A Quiver of Crows

I'm not new to Shmups or rage inducing games but i found this game to be a lovechild of the two, the enemies are frenetic, plentiful, relentless, and varied enough to give you pause when exploring the various areas in the game as it isn't on rails and proceeding too fast will bring a voracious swarm of death upon you. That said, the sound quality, both music and effects, are well done, the shooting mechanics are solid, and the game has a very macabre feel that keeps an eerie horror feeling intact throughout the entire experience (and sometimes directly in your face). If you heavily enjoy shoot 'em ups then take a look, if you're not then the game doesn't offer much more outside of the core shooter experience but is solid overall regardless.

Visually: it is great. The controls are smoother and unlike any other twin-stick i have played. But, there is just something about the enemies. they are challenging and provide entertainment, but just not the lasting entertainment that i would have thought this game capable of. so, while i give it a thumbs up...it has really only just passed the barr.

I really wanted to like this game. It is beautifully designed and I loved the idea of it however...I was horrible at it. I couldn't get past the second level because I was just so bad at it. If you're a crazy hard core shoot 'em up kind of person then this game is great but if you're casual then I just can't recommend this. It's very hard.

As a creepy guy myself, i thouroughly enjoyed the design of this game. The enemies have such a unique character design and only get more intriguing as the game progresses. The levels are well thought out and have a magical feel as you get to explore them through the eyes of a crow.

Postives: Fantastic aesthetic. Smooth controls. Negatives: No storyline other than STEAM game trailer. Enemy corpses block projectiles & potentially weigh down player. Limited number of recovery items for high respawn-rate of enemies. Player required to backtrack to collect powerups hinders gameplay; annoying & useless. TL;DR game is worth 1/3 to 1/5 of its $15 price-tag. Fix the above issues & you'll have something worth selling at that price.
