It's... okay. From the trailer, I expected it to be more frantic, rewarding patience and accuracy and leveraging the themes of pinball tables. As it is, it's a lot more placid, plodding in pace. Some of the flippers have barely any power, intentionally, which leads to moments of pure frustration when you react in time, but the lack of momentum afforded by the weaker flippers means you still reset and have to try again. I very quickly reached the point where the remarks from the narrator started looping, and I generally just lost interest. There wasn't a sense of grand achievement, and since closing the game I haven't felt the slightest inclination to go back to it. Performance on both my M2 Mac as well as my Steam Deck was honestly fairly poor, for such a simplistic level design, and I had to turn off the floating items and other effects, because succeeding fully depended on timing and accuracy. If you like this sort of thing, you might enjoy it, but it's definitely not for me, I'm araid!
I played i want to say an hour of the demo for this game and it was AMAZING. its designed to make you rage but for me its almost calming. its fun trying to rebuild the progress you lost. this game is very underground but i hope one day it gains the popularity it deserves.
I yelled so much my throat hurts, gg. FULL VIDEO - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXfs6KlGUV8
Yes, the game is frustrating, making you mad! It is terribly challenging. Thinking about the best strategy with only flippers... Extremely fun in its simplicity. Nominated for 'Best game you suck at' in the Steam Awards. On Arch Linux it doesn't have a great framerate by default, I used Proton Hotfix to get lots of frames per second.
Don't let the name fool you, this game causes more than just madness. If you've ever wondered what it would be like to try something over and over and over again because you just might get it next time, this game is for you! It's frustratingly satisfying to reach a peak because you know you're going to fall, only to fruitlessly climb back up. I can't wait to waste as many hours here as in the demo.
I'm generally not into these 'getting over it' style, foddian, rage games but this one is quite solid, despite not being my vibe. Mechanically really sound, satsifying, and diffcult. The idea of a pinball climber game in general is pretty genius. Also for those worried about the rage factor; the dev has included a mode/setting that allows for checkpoints so you won't fall an excruciatingly far distance and lose tonnes of progress. So if you want to try the game but are worried about the depths of the torture; you at least have that option. If you enjoy this genre of game you undoubtedly will like this one too, check it out! Played a pinball game. I got mildly annoyed. 7/10, needs more anger
game suffers too hard from trying to be a game from a decade ago too much. otherwise it's like fine
I'm a huge fan of Foddian/"rage" games, especially the almost meditative aspect of doing something you've done a bunch of times already and seeing it become less impossible over time. I also love digital pinball, as a kid I spend countless hours on my first PC in Space Cadet Pinball, so I'm definitely in the target audience for APGTMYM. In my short-so-far playtime I think it's a wonderful implementation of the concept of a Foddian pinball game. It's been wonderful to play on my Steam Deck while I recover from a concussion. The only real downside I've noticed so far after playing through the first world is that achievements don't seem to work properly, so if you're playing to rack those up you may be disappointed. A more fake downside is that I'm not a fan of the checkpoint system, but players like me who don't like it can just leave it off :) Edit 12/1/25: today steam pushed an "Update" for this game that seems to have wiped my saved settings, unlocked themes, and progress through the first world. If I want to continue attempting the second, I now need to do the first over, which I'm not particularly excited to do. Unfortunately I can't recommend a game that mysteriously deletes progress for seemingly no reason, no matter how good the concept and execution. Edit 12/2/25: Devin from Azimuth tried to help me recover my save for a while this afternoon, and while we were unsuccessful it's clear the save being deleted wasn't random but the result of an actual update, and I assume won't happen repeatedly. I appreciate the quick support even if unsuccessful, I'm used to tickets waiting in a queue for weeks before coming to any kind of resolution.
you should be put in an asylum for making all of what you need to work together to work in COMPLETE betrayal to what we desire.
