About
The Mainframe is lost, and you might be the only person still able to fight the MegaCorps. Lucky you! Your mission: dismantle capitalism one computer server at a time.
Data is currency, money, moola 🤑 The MegaCorps have too much info on me, you, and everyone. You’ll be taking it back. After all, progs aren’t cheap!
Progs are powers, and the MegaCorps control them all. You'll be stealing their code, and using it against them. Expect consequences.
You didn’t think the MegaCorps were going to let you reach the Mainframe without a fight, did you? The cyberstakes are high. Get disconnected too many times, and your mission starts from scratch.
The Big Three’s defenses are strong, Hacker, but you can be stronger. Pick up new tricks on every run, use the MegaCorps' progs to change the world, and find that Mainframe!

This is Not My Genre, but I love the game; every sector feels super tight, and the metagame is just complex enough to encourage returning for more action.
Inscrutable? Most of the time, yes. Beguiling? To be sure. I'm still learning how to maneuver within the system, but to be honest, figuring that out alone is a flavorful puzzle worth chewing on.
I played 868-hack 12 years ago or so, I had no idea what was going on. I do enjoy this one a lot better probably because I'm just older. It's pretty clever in how it functions, and I find myself thinking before actions much more than other tactics games. The small playing field prevents me from locking up or getting overwhelmed. Great pomodoro study tool :]

Extremely fun and I can barely progress. Leaves me wanting more.
