I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand I was really confused at the beginning and it felt like it dragged on forever but on the other hand I did actually enjoyed it most of the time.
After beating the other Princess Remedy game on Steam, I went immediately for this one. I think it's a good little experience. The game should take you roughly around an hour to finish and you can always play through the other difficulties. I ended up spending an extra hour, because I wanted to get a specific character's requirements. Anyway, the game's graphics are simple but they're pleasant and do the trick. The music is very good to be honest. The songs are really catchy and I was humming along the music a bunch. The gameplay is kind of a mixture of classic Legend of Zelda mixed in with some shoot em up bullet patterns to dodge. The story is super simple so there isn't much to discuss there. I think this is a nice game to try out if you ever feel like playing through a short and sweet game.
Princess Remedy In A Heap of Trouble is the gameplay sequel/narrative prequel to Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt. Set before the events of said game, AHoT has more enemies, a bigger polish given the time to develop outside of the specs of a game jam and the same charming style the original had. Gameplay remains largely unchanged. Explore the world, finding people to heal their ailments and said healing is done through "Healing Mode+++", where you enter a bullet hell minigame where you have to defeat their sicknesses and problems, most problems having distinct atributes, behaviors and bullet patterns. Alongside your constant firing, you can also use "Flasks" which act as powerful grenades to deal massive damage to a small area. New to this game is the dating system, where when you date someone, they change how your flasks work, encouraging you to try and going out with as many people as you can to try everything, very on brand for the panssexual peppy princess who isn't shy of dating anyone. The only problem with this system is
that there is a secret which requires you to not date anyone up to a certain lategame pont in order to get actual full completion, which means that playing around with the main gimmick unfortunately blocks you from the completion and in order to get it, you have to play a watered down version of the game.
One of its best features is its broad range of difficulty, accomodating players from all skill levels. I ended up completing on all difficulties, if only because the game is short enough that doing 3 100% runs is not too time costly and to improve oneself at a game are things I enjoy very much. It's a cheap price to pay for a fun game to play with nice retro aesthetic and a charming adventure. Hard to go wrong with this.
It's fun it's cute it's gay
Super tight top-down shooting, with enough different abilities to discover for a variety of tactics, all accompanied by wonderful and jazzy chip-tune! While not as inventive as 'In a World of Hurt', 'In a Heap of Trouble' still offers enough new ideas to deliver an engaging experience that both novice and hardcore players can enjoy. Definitely check it out!
This is an underrated, VERY retro (think somewhere between Atari 2600 and NES) bullet hell shooter starring Princess Remedy, a healer from Saturn, as she goes around curing various people by blasting their illnesses away with magic. The tone of the game is light and silly, and it's fairly short on Normal difficulty. However, higher difficulties are MUCH harder, like the infamous "Death" difficulty. I was not good enough to beat the game on Death. I'm going to have to play through the game again to cover my filthy casual Normal Mode shame. Give Remedy a shot. If you've played the first game, this is more of the same, with multiple fun boss battles!
Repetitive gameplay. Needs a button for strafing. Bullet patterns are not designed to be dodged. There is not a real story, just a bunch of phrases. Font is too big to be read on a desk monitor. At some points characters sprite's backgrounds are black instead of transparent.
I wanted a video game that could heal all my troubles, but the healing was within me all along
A better game than the first one with yuri pairing already available from the get-go, a little bit different mechanic here, dependable on your partners, but the core things remain here. Nice DOOM-like mini-game included.
PRINCESS REMEDY SO GOOD !!
