An atomic war has reduced the world to a heap of ruins. However, there are still those who refuse to give up and seek to bring justice even in this chaos. Use your blade, granades and shotgun to fight your way through this post-apocalyptic scrolling action-platformer in pure 80s arcade style.

After a quick update by the dev, 1989 is fully playable on Steam Deck. The game feels very similar to Ninja 1987, presenting a variety of enemy pattern challenges. This game adds interesting variables including a recharging shotgun and a slowly rising toxicity meter. If SEEP releases four games like this a year, I’ll buy them all. At this point I’m confident I can buy any of their games day one and they will be a worthwhile and well-designed experience. SEEP is my favorite western game dev by far!
There were some things I didn't care for but more good than bad.
After going down a rabbit hole of the developers games recently, they made a fan for life. I was more than happy to buy this new release the second it released. 30 mins in and so far so good! They've come through with another game that tickles that retro nostalgia in all the right ways. Looking forward to beating this one, as well as whats to come from SEEP
Another homerun courtesy of Seep. The developer reigns supreme when it comes to delivering top-notch and fun platformers.

Short Video Review: https://youtube.com/shorts/UV16y5zGz7g?si=Vlp8-0R65z6OwDxN TL:DR: 1989 after the war is my favorite SEEP game and is one of the coolest and most unique 8-bit platformers around. You have a sword, grenade, and the greatest shotgun in video game history that blows through everything in its path. It recharges over time but the game forces you to keep moving with a strict time limit and infinitely respawning enemies. This is a challenging, fast paced, platformer that any fan of NES games need to play.
Short but fun throwback to the nes/snes era. I grew up with these kinds of games, ninja gaiden, power blade, mega man, so it wasnt too hard to finish. Love the pîxel art and the music.
It's as if all of the frustrating elements of platformers from the 80s have been resurrected for this game. Absolute pass.
