It's not really that good, but for $1.50 theirs not a lot of negative to say.. pretty much your standard rougelite wave based survival game except way more pixelized and looks like it should be on mobile without any real movement animations. That being said, the actual level up perks are really good compared to others and you get a RE-roll each level for an additional 3 almost always grantkng you a decent upgrade every single level and not screwed by RNG.
Boring and not very well designed. There's precisely one perk that matters, it's "crits have a chance to heal you", and when you get that, you win. The levels are mostly really easy, even on ascension 6 (max difficulty), except for Hell and the snow level, which are frustrating and annoying without the aforementioned crit healing perk. However, they wouldn't be that annoying regardless, if the game was better designed. 99% of the difficulty of the game is being able to see enemies and projectiles, which are completely obscured by any explosions/skybeams you are causing. Visibility is the only real enemy in this game. For some reason, devs often think it's a good idea to have really bright and noticeable projectiles for the ones that you fire, and indistinct barely visible ones for the enemies' projectiles. This should, very very obviously, be the other way around. Some maps in particular are much worse, with enemy projectiles nearly invisible and/or completely obscured by all of your projectiles. You can't even really see your level-up bar because of the choices in color/lighting, unless explosions happen behind it. Super annoying. None of the character or weapon differences matter much, because again, the only perk that really truly matters is the crit healing one. You can still win without it on the hardest maps, but it's just 10x more annoying. However, it's cheap, and mercifully short, and it doesn't have god-awful achievement design like the vast majority of this entire genre of low-effort arcade survival style games that people pretend started with Vampire Survivors. No, they're just arcade games; they've been around since the early 80s, and, arguably, the late 70s. I should note, my issues are compounded by using the fire/explosive weapon, because it's simply the best weapon. However, the electric weapon (which sucks, and is the exact same looking as some enemy projectiles, also making it very confusing) and initial weapon (which has dark black projectiles that also obscure things) both cause visibility issues as well (and aren't as good.... and since explosions combo with so many perks, you will most likely take the explosive perk anyway when it comes up, to use all the other perks that need explosives to work). The mini-bosses/bosses are a complete joke and afterthought, and get mowed down in 1-2 seconds with most builds. Sometimes the first or second minibosses take longer because your attacks aren't strong enough, but I've yet to see a stage-end boss that survived longer than moments, often dying before it moves/attacks. There are also technical glitches, like the music constantly cutting out, the more projectiles/explosions are happening, which is a shame, because it's probably the best part of the game. A little generic, and at least one track's motif is very obviously almost note-for-note a track from Final Fantasy Tactics, but, there's worse music to copy. I do like the artstyle though, shame the game isn't more fun.
Needs a lot more content.. gamplay is very basic, the levels are empt, more or less theres nothing to explore at all, also visibility of enemys / projectiles is bad (especially in the hell level). Could be decent, but needs a lot more work. Wouldn´t recommend it at this state.
PRO - immediate fun NEUTRAL - shorter than many in the genre / also smaller fair price CONS - colors palette is not always friendly for the eyes
Не тратье не время не деньги. i seldom do reviews but Wanted Shadows takes the cake for nausea inducing graphics. i gritted my teeth through 1 game because i'm a sucker for punishment, but holy am i glad to be done with it. 1 weapon for the entire run is boring, and the stamina systems makes no sense, as though it was added in as a afterthought.
There is some good here, but very light on content. I don't thing I'll play it much. Too bad, I like it but it's barely worth the price currently. Hopefully the dev keeps adding to it.
it's just not good even at the price
This is a hard call: - is a cheap game - it works fine - the overall theme and music is fun HOWEVER is super basic: - all heroes have the same weapons - for me melee attacks are OP - magical/shooting weapons are garbage since you have to aim - once you figure out what work and what doesn't you can basically auto-heal Final verdict: try it since is cheap but don't except anything spectacular
I did not like it. I've been sitting here for 2.5 minutes, trying to come up with at least some manner of words I could use to paint the experience as a positive one. But, alas. I have none. It's a survivors-like. Bullet hell. Bullet heaven. Mobile Tower Defense Simulator where You're the Tower. Ultimately, you're a character that moves around for 10 minutes killing things. The first 10 minutes are such a lackluster experience I simply could not fathom spending more time with it. Yet, I did somehow. Also, if you're playing with a keyboard and mouse you'll probably be blighted with the impossibly very real thing of the default windows mouse cursor serving as some kind of additional crosshair. So, I played with a controller to avoid that. Anyway... Didn't enjoy it enough to give it more of a chance than I did. It's missing all the bells and whistles you'd expect from something in this genre. Upgrades from leveling up are pretty lackluster. Music seems to struggle when the boss shows up. Enemy variety is pretty limited during your 10 minute window of killing things. I enjoy this genre, so I take no pleasure in expressing my dislike of the title. But, in a world where time spent is never regained - I have regrets.
