Hotline Miami 3: Wrong country
Wild West themed top-down shooter with a story. Many weapons. As you progress, you unlock more. Unfortunately, what I disliked, was that you could only carry one gun and you always had a knife as the other option. (Q) Also, I disliked that one act had so many parts. As per times I wanted to stop playing, yet I didn't know if the game would save. So I played a whole act at a time. Often I forgot about dynamite. (F) Clocking all weapons to shoot was the unique part of the game. It was annoying, but honestly, it made it more challenging, which again made it more fun. If this wasn't the deal, you could complete the game much faster. At many places you must think fast how are you going to move, where are you going to go, who are you killing first etc. Tips: Pick up guns and hold R to retrieve all ammo out of it. Don't forget to reload and clock your weapon before shooting, lol. Use dynamite when there are 3 people or a group rushes you. Collect 100$; complete the acts and also do the repetetive tasks to have 100$ in your balance at one time. There are collectible hats, don't miss em. Try to complete the whole game and then you can focus on "kill 100 with x y z". (Most of them you will have anyway. Common one to leave behind is killing 100 animals and destroying 100 bottles.) + Has trading cards and not limited. Time to 100%: 4 hours.
_____________8__88_____8 ____________88_8__8_____8 ___________888_____88___88888 __________8888______88_8____88 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______88______8_8 _________8888_______8_______8 _________8888_____8_______8 __________88888____8______8 ___________8888888______8 __888_________88888_8 8888888________88_____ _8888888_______8_____ __888888_______88_____ ___88_____8_____8_____ ____8______8____8_____8_88 _______8888_8__88_8_88888 _____888888_8_88__8888888 ____8888888__88______88888 ____88888_____8_________888 ____88_________8__________8 _____8_________8_____ _______________8_____ ____________8_8_____ _____________88_8_____ ______________88_____ ______________8_____
This game has some great ideas, but the execution falls short. The atmosphere, hand-drawn art style, and soundtrack are easily the game's biggest strengths. They fit the Wild West vibes perfectly. My favorite weapon was the bow and arrows, which felt satisfying to use. Unfortunately, the checkpoint system is terrible. More than once I reached the end of a mission, died, and had to replay the entire level. The game also lacks a way to distinguish enemies from allies, so I sometimes wasted valuable ammo by mistake. The difficulty feels poorly balanced. It's kinda hard from the start, when you're still learning, but becomes easier near the end once you've already mastered the mechanics, which makes no sense. The story is forgettable, the dialogue tries too hard to be funny, and the weapon variety is limited, especially since you can only carry one weapon besides your knife. I think games like this should be fun and enjoyable, not frustrating. Overall: 4.5/10.
The pen/paper art style they went with is bland and boring, taking away from the old west theme due to lack of detail and color to make the scenes actually interesting to look at. The clunky manual shooting/reload system is unnecessarily convoluted and borderline micromanagement. Aim to shoot --> Stop aiming to recock gun --> re-aim to shoot --> empty gun --> Insert each bullet individually It's not smooth or engaging for the fast pace Hotline Miami clone they were going for. From what little story I experienced, it did not catch my care. It's unlikely I'll ever return to it.

I was drawn to that game because of its aesthetic. Initially the game felt just too hard and plain unfair, but after a while it felt natural and you somehow end up feeling like an ace shooter dropping targets and reloading faster than one can blink. The game has a few issues: my achievements never registered, and I couldn't get an external controller to work with the Steam Deck. The music is great, the gameplay tough but rewarding, and even though the the story is mostly forgettable, I had a good time playing.
This game IS enjoyable, but only for people that like fast-placed shooters, storyline is, bad? I mean, it isn't sh1t, its too fast, we dont learn a lot about the main character and other NPC's feel stiff. Oh and dont be angry at yourself if the bots kill you too many times, they prefire without any delay and they do hit more often than you will be on long distanced shots, what I also experienced was that bots that use shotguns have a lot longer and wider attack range when compared to the player. Hats? Use steam guides, it's hard to find them yourself on your own, storyline is too fast (levels too!) which makes it impossible not to miss any if you don't know you need to look for them. If there are no enemies you cant shoot your revolver most of the time and cant destroy bottles unless you wield let's say a shotgun which can bug out too. Doing 100% took me almost 4 hours because I had to research what to do with the hats and where these can be, some of the levels slowed me down because I would get insta shot when crossing a pixel wide step around any corner or barrel. All in all it was a good game, but still the review is negative, they could've changed a lot more but they didn't.
