pretty nice
fun, lots of interactions to discover.
I had over 100 hours played on the demo. I am happy to see that the balance issues I saw there have been resolved, meaning that most builds can be fun and exciting. There are still a couple builds that are vastly stronger in endless, but balancing for endless would probably ruin the normal game balance.
i like this video game
game's fun, but matchmaking and the underlying "RNG" code gets pretty cringe after you get to Grand Champ I've been matched vs previous runs of mine before plenty, but now I get matched vs myself on the exact same day and build, except my opponent-self has 2x less HP for some reason. Point being, I'm 95% sure they do some backend ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the matchmaking to make or break your current run via ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "good boy" variables (i.e. you get heavily RNG-penalized if you choose to greed>level), no matter the build you have going. I've tried optimizing the drop rarity percentages when greeding too, but it feels like they're just for decoration. I've also been matched vs a 1-Star Bat Wing with 60 multicast on day 5 with a single Dark Necklace lol Hard rolling for specific items is also very sus with how they tend to show up after 10+ rolls and you're missing 1 gold to purchase at that point. That also ties into the "backend ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ variables" point, since the 1-gold difference is often based on the gold you WOULD have IF you sell that 1 item on your board you've been looking to offload anyway. It's genuinely happened dozens of times across normal builds AND gold-farming builds, I can't be convinced it's just chance anymore lol Build meta past 20k rating also gets extremely dull because Moon/Frost/Holy/Crystal are practically suicidal to attempt - you'll get rolled over by Goblin/Arcane/Flame metaslaves 20 games straight before you even have a chance of a relevant run. Early access and all that, so I hope the dev's balls drop and they start taking bigger risks with buffing builds victimized by the powercreep. It is worrying that they're seemingly fine with not hotfixing obvious day 1 S+ builds like Goblin though
its a very cool spin on the backback battles / super auto pets formula. can recommend
One of those games I wish I played it less so I can continue playing it! Got top 500 leaderboard, enjoyed the newest update, and can't wait for two player content. If you like making your own builds and learning what goes well together; snag this game.
This game scratches just the right itch. The genre may be similar to Backpack Battles or The Bazaar but the nuance of the mechanics is what sets this game apart. Runs are quite fast. There's a lot of strategic diversity. The scaling mechanisms are really fun. Positioning matters but is quite simple and doesn't require too much thought. This isn't a game I would just spam play all day but when I'm zoned at night and start playing, it can be hard to put down. It definitely provides that "just one more run" addiction.
One of my fav asynchronous auto battlers to date. It simplifies some of the mechanics from backpack style autobattling and the focused product is a rapidfire dopamine machine on a good run. I've played ranked to Grandmaster and continue to enjoy trying new builds and new ways to find broken combos with three star items. Playing against other overpowered builds can be really jarring one-shot fights at later rounds, but it's all part of the chaotic fun that is Oaken Tower.
Really good Autobattler, Solo dev WHO Love his Game and Players. Own Website with Leaderboard and World records... Keep going 👍👍👍🥳
