This game was gifted to me in 2016, by a guy that used to be my friend. After gifting me the game, he proceeded to write to my ex and bang her. Bros and hoes are momentary, Jacket is eternal. 10\10, made me relive the trauma after all these years
The sleazy neon haze, garish colors, and hypnotic soundtrack pull me into a trance. Wearing an animal mask and leaving humanity behind, I lose myself in a fever dream of neon, violence, and blood.

After playing this I learnt I don't like top down shooters, but the music is a 10/10
I can see why this game is considered a classic, but it just isn't for me Hotline Miami is extremely fast-paced and punishing. Enemies react so quickly that it feels unbalanced on many occasions (even though I know it's more of a skill issue on my part. Dying in a split second constantly exhausts me really fast and the rating at the end frustrates me aswell, feels like the game is judging you on top of already beating you down. The controls feel strange to me. Movement, aiming, attacking, throwing weapons and reacting all at once often makes it feel like I am fighting the enemies and the controls. It creates this awkward situation where I understand what I want to do, but actually executing it feels uncomfortable. One thing that also bothers me is how static the enemies look when they are idle. Sometimes they stand completely frozen in place, and because of the busy visuals, I do not notice them until they suddenly blast me with lead. A subtle idle animation like breathing or shifting slightly would have made them easier to see. The art direction is very strong and memorable, and I loved it. The colors, violence, music and overall style is very well done, but it was too overstimulating for me. The screen can turn into a chaotic mix of neon colors, blood, bodies, weapons, and movement which makes me tense up even more while playing. I felt more fatigued than entertained. Overall I understand why people love Hotline Miami. It's stylish, intense and cleary has a unique identity. But the speed, controls, harsh punishment, visual overload and constant pressure make it hard for me to enjoy for longer sessions. This game is not bad at all, just not one that feels good for me to play.
This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome. Buying this game is not a mistake. It's fun, interactive, and has one hell of a story. The characters in the story are much more complex that I had thought. Give the game a chance, its on sale as of writing this, and even when its not on sale, its a must buy, especially since the second game is a hidden masterpiece.
I hopped on this game late. At first it seemed too chatioc and fast-paced but quite quickly you begin to notice how tactical play allows you to pass difficult bits of the game.
The controls seem rather clunky and the enemy ai isn't to fun either.
The game will give you a good experience of going through (1) failing over and over again, (2) asking yourself if you want to give up and uninstall the game, (3) realizing that such an action would be considered as a looser, (4) trying again, (5) completing the mission, and start the next mission from the very first step. If you think this game is going to be like those such as Intravenous where you need to use your brain to conduct some strategies, you will be disappointed. This game is not about strategies. The AI in this game is very stupid; they see their friends getting killed in front of them and are aware of nothing; they are THAT stupid, so no strategies needed, but they can kill you in one hit (so can you), so this game is all about 'GET GOOD OR GO PLAY MINECRAFT (IN CREATIVE MODE)'.
