Very frustrating as I was really looking forward to this . If you are looking for call of duty type graphics and combat it is not here . Function keys did not work , voice acting was poor , combat was slow and clunky . Tutorials , the instructions said push key etc and nothing happened so it kept repeating the same thing again and again . There is a demo out so if you are considering it I would urge to try that first before buying .
Oh dear, released too early, really buggy game - I don't know where to start - has potential. The game plays really poorly, the units don't always move well, they go in odd places, you can kill loads of English soldiers before one takes you down. The interface is horrible - look at Operation Flashpoint for pointers. REally clunky to play, needs an ability to pause batle and give instructions. Menus are about 20 years old and are not that responsive. The missions are limited and there is no ability to create your own - you can only play a couple of missions on my version - I won one to get another one, I want to play in my order. Besides, the first open nbattle is Rourkes Drift - which happend after some of the others in the game. Really feel I was duped with my hard earned cash. I never usually leave game reviews, but this was poor and way too early. Some folks might come back to you

Having been a Zulu fan for past 30 years, I cannot tell you how excited I was to play this game but after 30 minutes I turned it off and dumped the shortcut in the recycle bin.
The original, the best. Only game dedicated to paying homage to the horrors of the Zulu wars. Only game that features a fleshed-out Big Game Hunting™ minigame as part of the base game. Has also been updated a lot since purchased (received in gift form from my good friend, Demifo) many moons ago, and I hope that trend will continue in the future (both in terms of updated features and new animals). Thanks boys, may the winds of the great plains never warm up your beers.
The game its self is really fun but the voice acting is pretty bad like everyone else says graphics arnt to big so if thats your thing this games not for you. Some things went wrong such as sometimes the uniform and sometimes the rifle goes black. the zulus ai are some of the dumbist i have every seen. but i have not played the zulus side yet. motian blur for me a least caused lag and sometimes the game freezes then exits out. I found zulu charges scary (manily because of their dumb ai) but also cause all the other solders die almost instanly. But i still really enjoyed my time in the game and i would recomend it to you.
Just got done playing the DEMO in SP and purchased the full game. I am not configured to Host yet, but might try later. Kind of worried about security and also how much performance I can provide as a host. ATM, I loving the SP game but it took awhile to get a grip on the controls to order my squad. Are there issues? YEs, some but not enough atm for me to worry.
Well, I have been fascinated by the Zulu wars ever since I saw Michael Caine in the movie "Zulu". In Zulu Response, you can play as a Zulu warrior or a British soldier. I prefer playing as a British soldier, because I was born in Manchester. First off, the games environment covers an area in Africa where the battle of Rourke's Drift and a few other clashes between Zulu's and the British occurred and the unfamiliarity really drove fear right into me. The landscape of Rourke's Drift seems almost alien...but it is home to the Zulu and they want you dead. Time to step up, because reinforcements may as well be a distant dream. Keep your head on a swivel, because the Zulu warriors attack from all points of the compass and are counting on demoralizing and confusing your troops before their final rush to victory. I like the Zulu conflict time period...fascinating and ruthless. I suggest watching the movie, "Zulu" (the one with Michael Caine in it) and you may come to understand that in this battle, to "surrender" certainly means a fate worse than death. I can honestly say I would recommend Zulu Response to anyone interested in it's subject matter. I enjoyed it. Playing as a British soldier, you will be apprehensive, fearful and will question why God would put you in that particular position, as the thunder from thousands of Zulu warriors grows ever closer. A trembling private asks the Sergeant-Major... pleading for any meaning to their inevitable doom: "Why us, Sergeant-Major? Why us...here?" "Because we're here, lad...and nobody else is..."
I got this game as a gift, however I also bought this game AS a gift to the same friend. So yes, technically this was free but not really. Ok, so the main reason we got this game for eachother is because zulus are an in-joke with us, we didn't expect the game to be good. But oh boy this is a new level of bad. It is so bad I ACTUALLY LAUGHED at points in it. Oh yes. Do not buy this game. Graphics are bad, interface is bad, audio is bad. Everything is bad. Sorry devs but this game really isn't worth £11. If it was cheaper maybe it would be worth it but you are basically asking £11 for the earliest possible version of a playable game (if almost everything is a placeholder this game could turn out to be ok)
Last man standing during flag assault at Rorkes Drift. Zulus swarmed over the walls. Shoot three, bayonet two, impaled by countless asagi spears. Die. Still won the round. Would win round from beyond the grave again.
