Rush'n Attack is back! Another LKK GAME banger releases. Plenty of modes and times to chase (speedrunning in this case). You'll need to git gud in true arcade fashion. Online leaderboards to boot!

The story is as straightforward as it gets, with a deadly virus that has ravaged a city, turning everyone into zombies. You take control of one of two survivors, a barbecue chef or a fitness-obsessed office worker, each determined to escape the chaos. The two characters differ mainly in their weapons. The chef relies on a swift but relatively weak knife, ideal for quick combos, while the office worker swings a heavy sledgehammer that delivers slower yet more powerful blows. Apart from that, they play identically. The controls are simple: move left or right, and hold down the attack button for a continuous strike, sparing your thumb from endless button mashing. Attacks also combine with jumping and crouching, letting you target enemies on the ground or airborne threats. As you advance, typically from left to right, you’ll come across new weapons hidden in destructible objects. You can pick up shotguns, machine guns, and even a chainsaw at one point. These temporary weapons are limited by their ammo, disappearing once depleted. Because of that, it’s wise to save them for stronger enemies or boss encounters. Weapons don’t replace your basic attacks, so you can still fight freely even after they run out. Health-restoring items are also tucked away inside breakable crates or boxes. Each stage wants you to make it to the end while mowing down everything in your path and defeating a boss. The action is brisk and filled with variety. Standard zombies make up the bulk of the opposition. Some charge directly at you, while others hurl rocks from elevated spots. Later levels introduce new variants and foes that suit the setting, such as bats, explosive zombies, dogs, or armored enemies that soak up extra damage before going down. True to its arcade roots, enemies sometimes spawn endlessly from the screen edges until you advance to the next area. Stages also include ladders that can help you reach hidden items or avoid swarming threats below. The game’s difficulty is generally fair, though it still includes the classic side-scroller hazard: getting knocked back into an instant-death pit. Boss fights are straightforward. They’re not overly punishing, and most can be defeated after a few attempts once you recognize their patterns. There are no frustrating “invincibility phases” or long waits for vulnerable moments so you’re free to unload your arsenal whenever you get the chance. Stages are short, but they don’t feature mid-level checkpoints, aside from one before a boss. There are no extra lives, yet your health can expand beyond the starting three hearts by picking up food items. The same mechanic applies to weapons: if you pick up the same type you’re already holding, it adds to its ammo. When you lose all your hearts, you restart from the beginning of the current section, not the whole stage, which keeps frustration to a minimum. You can retry as many times as you like, with only a retry counter reminding you of past failures. Conveniently, all main stages are unlocked from the start, letting you replay any of them at will. The graphics are worth highlighting. Although the gameplay aims for that snappy arcade pace, the visuals are surprisingly detailed. Backgrounds are packed with small touches that could easily go unnoticed amidst the chaos. Finally, there’s a bit of replay value for completionists. Finishing the game with both characters unlocks achievements and new modes. “Hard Mode” offers a tougher challenge, while “Gun Mode” gives you unlimited ammo for most weapons, turning the game into a run-and-gun mode.
Zombies Attack, developed by Liao Kai and LKK GAME and published by Liao Kai, is a retro-styled side-scrolling action game that pays tribute to the golden era of arcade shooters while infusing it with modern polish and fast-paced gameplay. From its opening moments, it establishes a clear sense of urgency and chaos, thrusting the player into a world overrun by hordes of zombies where survival depends on quick reflexes, smart weapon choices, and relentless aggression. The game’s design philosophy echoes the spirit of classic pixel-based action titles from the 1990s, focusing on skillful movement, timing, and the satisfaction of mowing down enemies with a wide range of weapons. Instead of complex storytelling or heavy exposition, Zombies Attack thrives on pure, adrenaline-driven gameplay that keeps players hooked through its fluid combat rhythm and challenging boss battles. At its core, the game revolves around a simple yet effective premise: navigate horizontally through desolate post-apocalyptic levels while fending off waves of undead enemies that grow stronger and more numerous as you progress. The control scheme feels tight and responsive, allowing for quick attacks, dodges, and jumps that make each confrontation satisfying. The arsenal of available weapons is one of the game’s highlights, offering a surprising amount of variety for such a compact experience. Players can wield everything from blunt hammers and sharp knives to powerful firearms, chainsaws, and even improvised tools like fire bottles. Each weapon carries its own weight and impact, changing how you approach encounters and giving combat a sense of rhythm that keeps it from feeling repetitive. The inclusion of throwable items and crowd-control options adds a strategic layer that rewards experimentation rather than button-mashing, which is a pleasant surprise for a game that initially seems straightforward. The visual presentation perfectly complements the gameplay’s nostalgic undertone. The pixel art is crisp and evocative, blending detailed sprites with atmospheric backgrounds that depict ruined cities, grim laboratories, and ominous nightscapes. The animation, while simple, conveys a satisfying sense of impact when striking or blasting through waves of zombies. Bosses, in particular, stand out as larger-than-life encounters that require observation and pattern recognition rather than brute force alone. Their designs are creative enough to break up the pacing between standard waves and offer memorable challenges that feel both fair and rewarding. The soundtrack is another strong point, filled with catchy 8-bit tunes that evoke classic arcade shooters while maintaining a darker tone that fits the setting. It’s clear that the developers aimed to create an experience that balances nostalgic authenticity with modern smoothness, and the result is both endearing and effective. One of the most commendable aspects of Zombies Attack is its accessibility. With minimal system requirements and full support for multiple languages, it welcomes players across different regions and hardware setups. The game runs flawlessly even on older machines, and its optimization ensures that performance never hinders gameplay intensity. Despite its modest price point, it offers an impressive level of polish for an indie release. Its cooperative play mode also deserves mention, as it allows friends to join in on the chaos locally, recreating the couch-co-op magic that many modern titles have abandoned. The satisfaction of teaming up to survive increasingly brutal waves of enemies, coordinating attacks, and sharing resources injects new life into each session. It is a testament to the developer’s understanding of what makes arcade action fun — shared excitement, tension, and fast-paced chaos that doesn’t require a lengthy tutorial or complex progression system to enjoy. While Zombies Attack succeeds admirably at what it sets out to do, it is not without its limitations. Its linear structure and focus on continuous wave combat mean that there is little in the way of exploration or deep narrative. Once you’ve mastered its mechanics and conquered its roster of bosses, the replayability largely hinges on chasing higher scores or unlocking all achievements. For players who crave elaborate worlds, skill trees, or cinematic storytelling, the game may feel too barebones. However, within its chosen genre and scope, it is impressively consistent. The game’s difficulty curve can be punishing, especially in higher modes, but it rarely feels unfair. Instead, it channels the kind of challenge that defined classic arcade gaming — one that pushes players to improve through repetition and precision rather than through stat-grinding or artificial barriers. In the end, Zombies Attack stands as a celebration of pure action and old-school craftsmanship. It doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not — it’s a tightly designed, visually appealing, and genuinely fun experience that thrives on immediacy and impact. Liao Kai and LKK GAME have delivered a project that feels both nostalgic and refreshing, appealing to veterans of pixel-era gaming and newcomers seeking a straightforward, heart-pounding challenge. Its blend of weapon variety, boss design, pixel aesthetics, and catchy retro music gives it a distinct personality within the crowded indie scene. Though modest in scale, it carries a level of passion and attention to detail that makes it easy to recommend to anyone who appreciates the energy and simplicity of classic arcade action, where every hit, dodge, and explosion counts. Rating: 7/10
好玩,确实有绿色兵团的感觉
雪糕筒为什么会有伤害啊哈哈哈哈
Pretty great take on the Rush'n Attack formula. Played through normal mode as the male and hard mode as the female in under two hours. Girl seems easier to plow through bosses with her big ole hammer, guy might be better for speed running with faster attack. Retro run and gun fans will love this.
