POST COMPLETION EDIT: Now that i've beaten it (15 hours, 98% item completion) I can say without a doubt that this is the best Metroidvania (for lack of a better genre name cuz this honestly doesn't have any Castlevania in it) I have ever played. My top 3 prior to this was Super Metroid, Angel's Gear and then Silksong but this game has now usurped all three. Far as I'm concerned it is a crime that a solo dev can work for 13 years on this, create something of such prestigious quality and only charge 20 USD for it. I cannot believe how freaking good this game is and that I hadn't heard about it until a day ago when it randomly showed up on my recommendations. The game feels like one of the most meticulously crafted love letters to the genre while managing to do so much more. You bet your bottom dollar I will be singing praises of this and recommending it to everyone I know who likes Metroidvanias. The navigation, map design, power progression, environmental storytelling and overall challenge presented by everything you fight feels like such a masterclass of the genre that this could not only have been made by someone who loves it, but by someone who UNDERSTANDS it on a level you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere Whatever it is this dev may have planned next, I will be there on day 1 PS this game felt like i was going through and experiencing every 2D Metroid game from the original NES to Fusion for the first time all over again which is something no other game has EVER done that before
If you are looking for something about as hard as the NES Metroid, but with better controls, this is the game for you.
A challenging metroidvania with a lot of variety in upgrades and level designs. It's not the longest metroidvania I've ever played, but it felt very dense. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it.
overall it's fun but i did not like the end game content. it's a great spiritual successor to the original metroid, but it truly evolves from metroid into megaman into touhou. I like the metroid/megaman parts because it had challenging exploration and boss fights but still felt really cool to explore and find new things, but the issue with the end game content is that the bosses just become touhou style bullet hell. i am not a fan of bullet hell and did not think that's what i was signing up for when i picked this game. most of the bosses are fun, just the last couple of end game bosses are not. mostly just
phobos
Feels like an NES gem but controls are more complex, i recommend using a shoulder button for jumping so you have both analog sticks free for moving and shooting in any direction (you can remap all controls). After that re-learning controls a bit i had a blast. Outstanding retrogame with good movement and combat mechanics, excellent exploration and upgrades. Great music and story. "postgame" and lots of secrets that i have yet to get. You can play this game without having played metroids its just great regardless. 8/10
Not a lot of metroidvanias capture the Metroid half very well, but this one does so perfectly. It's creepy, it's got a huge map that never feels too obnoxious to backtrack through, it's got secrets that I'm still working on! My only major complaint is that the boss design is really hit or miss, but there's frequent checkpoints so I never got too annoyed. Fantastic game, hope it gets a sequel.
A hidden gem for lovers of Metroid games. I’d say it even does it better than its inspiration. Student always overcomes the teacher. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this game is great, takes all the best elements from games like metriod fusion dread and supper, the game is quite hard and some of the boss fights and chase sequences feel way better then the SAX or emmie did in metriod true constant panic trying to run away figure out the environment and shooting at the enemy. the game also keeps surprising me with how creative it can be don't want to spoil but in the almost 2 hours i have played it has been filled with lots of surprises. also this game has really robust controler mapping, my current config sets shooting to the right analog stick so i can aim in all directions while running the opisite way, then have jump and dash mapped to bottom buttons so i can jump and shoot together. and the native linux version plays great haven't seen any issues if you like metriovaianas or anything in the metriod series try this game it's great
YouTube "This Metroidvania Has The Hardest Boss In Video Games". И это будет даже не единственный хардкорный необязательный контент в игре.
