Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.43/day in the week to Sep 4 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Блин, крутая игра ваще, даже две в одной. 999 само великолепие, и потом с виду всратая ВЛР тоже оказываеться классной вааще
This game will have you hooked if you like puzzles and engaging storytelling. You get deeply creative narratives, meaningful choices, and mind-bending twists. It definitely excels in the mystery genre; I cannot recommend this game enough. Finished 999, on my way playing through all the endings in VLR. Sad that VLR doesn’t have the expressive 2D art style anymore, but the story is great regardless. Unfortunately, you don’t get to see the sudoku puzzle either (ifykyk)

Really interesting story, second game is too long tho but otherwise good
i love 999 so much but i cant play vlr cause it looks like dog poop sorry!!!!!
At the time of this review, I still have not made it nearly a quarter of the way through 999, let alone started VLR. That being said, I am more then willing to give these two games a gold-star of approval. If you like DS split-screen games, you'll have no issues with the layout nor the basics of the puzzle mechanics, though having a guide handy to consult is no harm.
Always loved playing escape rooms so this was great for me! There were a few rooms that made me wreck my brain whilst the game's OST just kept repeating in the background haha. Very useful knowledge too, now I know how to use hexadecimal. The only downside is that the dialogue in some parts of the game was a little slow, but it gets way better towards the Ending. Junpei and June are cuties. I've also played other Spike Chunsoft games, and I have to say I love their death game detective-style.
Zero Escape: The Nonary Games is a bundle containing 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and its successor Virtue's Last Reward. Both games are visual novels with escape-room puzzles, branching narratives, and sci-fi elements. The third entry of the trilogy, Zero Time Dilemma, is sold separately. A defining feature of the series is its many narrative paths and endings. To reach the true ending, players are required to explore multiple routes and gradually piece together the larger mystery. The core appeal of the series lies in two elements: the life-threatening escape-room scenarios and the constant stream of mystery boxes. Who can be trusted? Why are the characters trapped? What is really happening behind the scenes? The games succeed in creating curiosity and motivating players to push forward for answers. 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (999) 999 is my favorite in the triology. It has the strongest pacing, the most likeable cast, and the most appealing presentation in the series. While the characters are not exceptionally deep, they are developed enough to make the story engaging and to maintain emotional investment throughout the adventure. One reason the pacing works so well is the balance between visual novel and puzzle segments. The escape-room puzzles are generally straightforward and often revolve around numerical concepts. As a result, they rarely interrupt the narrative for too long. The game alternates between story and gameplay at a steady rhythm, which keeps the momentum going. The story itself is also the most grounded in the trilogy. While there are unusual and speculative ideas, they never become so extreme that they overshadow the characters. Consequently, I found it much easier to care about the people involved and the outcome of the story. The dialogue is comparatively concise and focused. Another advantage is the presentation. 999 uses 2D sprites rather than fully 3D environments. This makes navigation faster and simpler while also giving the characters more expressive animations. In my opinion, the animated 2D artwork has aged much better than the low-poly 3D models used in the later games. The soundtrack is relatively modest, but okay for a low budget title, and it complements the tense atmosphere well enough. The voice acting is surprisingly good. Virtue's Last Reward (VLR) VLR switched to a 3D engine and introduces more complex puzzles. Unfortunately, not all of these changes are improvements. The visual presentation is the most obvious downgrade. The low-poly character models and environments have not aged particularly well, and they lack the charm of 999's 2D artwork. The transition to 3D also impacts gameplay. Navigating rooms is slower, rotating the camera takes time, and identifying important objects is less obivous. Inventory management is similarly less convenient, as the radial menu requires more effort than a straightforward grid-based system. One of the most interesting additions is the voting mechanic inspired by the Prisoner's Dilemma. This system creates additional tension between characters and gives interactions more weight. Unfortunately, I found the cast to be the weakest part of the game. Many characters feel one-dimensional and not that likeable. The pacing is also considerably worse. Even with the skip function enabled, the game requires revisiting many scenes and repeatedly viewing variations of events. Since VLR features the most complex puzzles in the trilogy, the slower pacing is amplified further. Another issue is that VLR takes a long time to provide meaningful answers. For a large portion of the story, it continuously introduces new mysteries without resolving existing ones. While this certainly keeps curiosity alive, it can become frustrating when the characters spend significant amounts of time discussing questions rather than making progress toward answers. The soundtrack, however, is a noticeable improvement over 999. The tracks fit the sterile and unsettling environments well. The voice acting remains strong. Overall The Nonary Games is a collection of mystery visual novels that combines escape-room puzzles with branching narratives. The entire series thrives on creating questions and making the player want to discover the answers. While both games are worth playing, I prefer 999. Its more grounded narrative, stronger pacing, simpler puzzles, and expressive 2D presentation create a much tighter experience. VLR introduces interesting mechanics such as the Prisoner's Dilemma voting system. However, it suffers from weaker pacing, more repetition, less appealing visuals, and a cast that I found harder to care about. Overall, I would recommend The Nonary Games to players who enjoy mystery stories, escape-rooms, sci-fi elements, and branching narratives. Just be prepared for a structure that requires multiple, partial playthroughs to reveal the full picture.
