I really wanted to like this game but it's nothing more than a really basic horror game with the Yume Nikki IP attached to it. The magic of the original game is gone, the gameplay is terrible most of the way through and both the endings and the "main antagonist" are really boring. Though the Uboa event and the Aooni easter egg are pretty neat.
Yume Nikki lite premium ts just got discount. I bought full price🤒
NO. Pero es todo una experiencia
nao vi o gaster e uboa fznd collab, é triste mas o jogo merece like
This game clearly has its fans, and I'm one of them. While the puzzles are sometimes real tedious, like the block world puzzle, and the platforming can be annoying
(especially the one with the eyeballs and the hands, if you don't have the mask that is)
, there clearly is thought and care put into the game. What can I say? Yume Nikki sweeps, OMORI weeps.
I had originally bought this on release, but got around to playing it recently. I had initial problems launching the game, but those issues have not passed. I'd say that the make thing to note, is this game is true to it's word as a re imagining and not a remake. It feels more like an inspired love letter than a 3D remake. Yume Nikki as is, is more of a cult classic RPG Maker style surreal, non-linear exploration game with a story that is mostly up to interpretation. YUMENIKKI -Dream Diary- is still an exploration game, but focuses more on the uncanny nature of the game, and dips into the darker, more horror related motifs, focusing on platforming and puzzles. Despite the exploration aspect, it is a much more linear game with a story that's more plainly laid out. Despite being a bit of a clunky platformer, I still enjoyed this game. I think people primarily don't like it because Yume Nikki had a very niche, but thriving fanbase with abundant fan theories and lore analysis. This game goes against some of the more popular fan theories, and is also quite different from the original. Despite that, the game is still clearly created with love, and it feels unfair to have it so harshly ridiculed. One thing I did despise, is the very end sequence of the true ending with the flute. I am not good with musical notes or tones, but the game wants you to play four notes to complete the song that plays. Because this game is rather niche, it took a very long time to find a video of which notes I needed to play (Thank you ManlyBadassHero). The worst part was that this was clearly meant to be an emotional way to end the game, but I was so frustrated I was just happy to be done with the segment. Whether you've played the original Yume Nikki and want a new experience and a bit of nostalgia, or have never played and want a whimsical platformer with light horror elements, this is a fun short game.
