https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2706087672
A gorgeous, joy-filled love letter to classic Japanese bullet hell shoot-em-ups. Pick up your favorite childhood hero action figure - Space Ranger Yuki - and zoom between the imaginary bullets with her fully animated self in your hand, as together you dodge, weave, and shoot down all the baddies who are creating chaos and destroying the child's creativity. It's a perfect way to unwind with a quick gaming session, while experiencing what it's like to actually be inside of a shmup - as well as inside the mind of a child again. Endless replayability and score-chasing, with a ton of persistently upgradable "rogue-like" elements. Each stage has randomly generated waves, while still leaving you with the ability to memorize patterns and hone your skills - essential to the classic shmups of old. There are no words to adequately describe this developer's projects. Literally everything she and her team have touched has been spun into absolute gold. I now know that if you see the name "Ana Ribeiro" listed anywhere, just buy it. It's going to be amazing. (DEFINITELY pick up the "Pixel Ripped" series! They're nothing short of works of art!)
Game no longer launches. You just get stuck looking at stars or the recenter prompt appears. Can't actually do anything. The only activity over in steam discussions are people saying the same thing, with no follow up. Looks like and feels like abandoned software to me, doesn't feel like anyone should purchase it.
As others have said, it's like Xortex in The Lab, but a full game. It's the traditional linear path instead of a stationary room like Xortex, which is better for those who are cable tethered. Feels challenging from the get-go, and the items and progression seem well balanced for the roguelike part.
This game has its ups and downs. The music and visuals are really nice. I enjoy the techno soundtrack on top of the flashy yet easily readable visuals. I saw zero bugs in my time playing, so the devs have clearly taken the time to polish things despite being a small studio. I am not a fun of how the roguelite mechanics work in this game however. While some roguelites ie Slay the Spire make unlocks highly optional for beating the game, Yuki makes enemies extremely builet spongey later on forcing you to have several useless runs until you are allowed to use overpowered upgrades like powered drones to steamroll through the game. After that all runs play the same, get powered drones, get drones, steamroll everything with your main shot type being ignored in favor of said drones you grinded for. It's not a proper arcade style game like let's say Touhou where you only bring your own skill into the game. If there was a proper arcade mode in the game with enemies and upgrades rebalanced appropriately I'd probably give this a thumbs up. Right now I'd say that a sideways thumb would be the most appropriate choice, however Steam doesn't let me do that so it's getting a thumbs down from me.
i am absolutely in love with this game. And i love Yuki. The game design is so so cuuute, simple, beautiful and warm. I love it. Every time i play it it's just a feast for the eyes. I love the replayability rogue-like element of the game. It preassures you to run after the gems so that you get that upgrade you wish for Yuki, She feels alive and you start to care for her. Felt like a kid playing this game. Can't recommend it enough ! For the devs, thank you for a great game ! Please keep it as warmhearted as it is, and don't overdo it, please ! Thanks again for the enjoyement and cute overload ! 5/5 on all accounts :)
I've been really enjoying this! It reminds me vaguely of Space Harrier, one my my favorite classic arcade games. The bullets are slower but far more numerous, and the gameplay is more varied due to the randomized powerup choices (and somewhat randomized levels.) This is my favorite VR game so far.
Fantastic VR bullet hell game !! Graphics, art design, sound fx, musics, all is beautiful, with a solid gameplay, simple but efficient ! If you like the roguelite bullet hell genre, you will love it for sure !!
YUKI Space Ranger is a vibrant and physically engaging VR action game that fully embraces the strengths of virtual reality to deliver a fast, demanding, and imaginative bullet-hell experience. Developed by ARVORE and published by ARVORE Immersive Games Inc., the game places players inside the boundless imagination of a child, where a beloved space ranger action figure springs to life and battles waves of bizarre enemies across surreal, toy-like dimensions. Rather than presenting a traditional sci-fi narrative, the game frames its world through creativity and playfulness, turning each run into a chaotic and colorful adventure driven by reflexes, spatial awareness, and persistence. At its core, YUKI Space Ranger is built around constant motion and precision dodging. Unlike conventional shooters where movement is controlled by analog sticks alone, YUKI demands full physical participation. Players guide Yuki through dense curtains of projectiles by moving their hands and bodies, leaning, weaving, and reaching through space to survive. This design creates an intense sense of presence, making every close call feel personal and every mistake immediately tangible. The bullet-hell roots are unmistakable, but VR transforms the genre from a test of finger dexterity into a full-body challenge that keeps adrenaline high throughout each run. The game’s structure borrows heavily from roguelike design, ensuring that no two playthroughs feel exactly the same. In Patrol Mode, players progress through a sequence of handcrafted environments while unlocking temporary power-ups and abilities that dramatically alter playstyle. Some upgrades focus on offense, others on survivability or movement, encouraging experimentation and adaptation on the fly. Failure is frequent, but rarely discouraging, as each run contributes toward permanent progression systems that gradually expand your capabilities. This balance between challenge and growth gives the game a strong “just one more run” appeal. Endless Mode shifts the focus from exploration to endurance, throwing relentless waves of enemies at the player with increasing speed and complexity. This mode highlights YUKI’s arcade sensibilities, rewarding mastery of movement, pattern recognition, and efficient power-up combinations. Leaderboards add a competitive edge, pushing skilled players to refine their technique and chase higher scores. It’s here that the game’s bullet-hell DNA truly shines, offering a pure test of skill that feels especially satisfying when played at a high level. One of the game’s more experimental features is its mixed-reality inspired approach to spatial combat, where enemies and projectiles appear to invade the player’s real-world surroundings. This concept reinforces the idea that the battlefield extends beyond the virtual screen, blurring the boundary between game space and physical space. When functioning smoothly, this mode is thrilling and uniquely suited to VR, demanding constant awareness of all directions. However, it can also be the most technically demanding aspect of the game, with performance and comfort varying depending on hardware and available play space. Visually, YUKI Space Ranger is immediately striking. The art style leans heavily into anime influences and toy-box aesthetics, using bold colors and exaggerated designs that remain readable even when the screen is filled with projectiles. This clarity is essential for a bullet-hell game, especially in VR, and ARVORE does an admirable job balancing spectacle with functionality. The soundtrack complements the action with energetic, futuristic music that enhances the sense of momentum and keeps tension elevated throughout each encounter. The difficulty curve is unapologetically steep. YUKI does not shy away from overwhelming the player, especially in later stages where enemy patterns become complex and unforgiving. This intensity is part of the appeal, but it also means the game may be demanding for newcomers to VR or players sensitive to motion-heavy experiences. Comfort settings and gradual progression help mitigate this, but the game clearly targets players who enjoy challenge and physical engagement rather than relaxed play. Overall, YUKI Space Ranger stands out as a confident and creative VR title that uses its medium to reimagine bullet-hell gameplay in a way that feels fresh and exhilarating. Its blend of roguelike progression, physical movement, and expressive visual design creates an experience that is both playful and punishing. While its VR exclusivity and intensity limit its audience, those willing to meet it on its terms will find a deeply satisfying and memorable action game that showcases how imaginative and demanding virtual reality experiences can be.
