About
RoadOut is a post-apocalyptic action RPG that combines top-down, twin stick combat with rubber-burning driving mechanics. Explore a vast, desolate world in your car, then battle your way through puzzle-filled dungeons on foot. With inspirations from The Legend of Zelda, GTA and Rock'n Roll Racing, RoadOut is a story-driven adventure full of gangs, cybernetics and rip-roaring races.

After a great cataclysm, what's left is a post-apocalyptic world dominated by an A.I. with rebel groups that take refuge in a desert area known as The Dead Zone.
Claire survives in this world by executing black market contracts for local leaders involving delivery, sabotage and murder. The Dead Zone, now not so dead, is occupied by three rival factions: The Wasteheads, The SaibaKuran, and Order of the New Code.
While investigating her past, Claire uncovers strange evidence that links her existence to the origin of the A.I…

The world is no longer the same. All that remains is The Dead Zone, a large artificial biome created to sustain a new era of humanity. Drive through The Dead Zone doing jobs, getting paid and running roughshod over the scum guarding the secrets of the world. Join factions, fight rival gangs, barter items and take up quests to earn clout while progressing Claire’s story.
Exit your ride and explore locations in the world of RoadOut on foot. Crush bandits with short and long range attacks, block with your shield, and recover using drugs that you’ve crafted on the way. Solve puzzles using fully rotatable stack sprite perspectives that look 2D, but are actually 3D.
Craft new moves, weapons and drugs to survive. You can customize Claire with body mods, cybernetics and an intricate skill tree system. Upgrade her car to traverse different terrain and withstand the effects of weather, night and day.
Equipped with weapons and other tech, Claire’s car is your best friend against dangers in The Dead Zone. Hungry animals are ready to rip you apart. Murderous bandits will rob your lifeless corpse. Prepare for the worst with your car and its arsenal of weapons.
The world may have come to an end, but who said we can't have fun? Ride or die in red-hot races to be the best on the post apocalyptic circuit. 10 tracks in multiple biomes, innumerable races, all of them equal measures deadly and glorious. Indulge in extra game modes such as destruction derby-style racing and twisted battle arena, all while roading out to a thumping synthwave soundtrack.

I've tried to give this game a solid go, but I just can't seem to get past the terrible combat. At first it's just about serviceable, but 6 hours in, it's not getting any better. It really needs reworking from the ground up as a twin stick shooter in my opinion. Instead, your right stick is wasted on a room rotation gimmick, which admittedly at first seemed cool, but as you progress, it doesn't really serve much purpose. You carry around a shield which you can't really control and may or may not block some shots. You can get stun-locked by some enemies and the combat feels cheap. I mean hitting enemies costs stamina and dashing, costs stamina, so you end up half the time wheezing and tanking damage as you can't either dash nor hit anyone. You get a gun, but yeah it's bad. It's difficult to shoot anything, because again, this isn't a twin stick shooter. You're also reluctant to shoot anything as you have to craft every bullet. My goodness, it's grim. The devs to their credit did fix the driving, so at least it has a tank control option now. But it still isn't that fun to drive. I just want to fast travel everywhere. I find myself not wanting to engage in any vehicular combat as it's pretty bad. The locations are dull and uninspired and there are no interesting NPCs to talk with. The main missions are dull and the side missions are also dull. It's almost as though the devs realise the combat sucks as the health packs are so easy to craft and on one level you get given like 30 of them. So instead of using skill as you would in some games, you just spam heal all the time and tank tons of damage. There's a throw-away story and you don't really care about the main character at all. There's a faction mechanic similar to GTA2, but it's so grindy. Getting a good reputation with one faction takes a lot of boring grinding mini levels and I just gave up on it after it had little to no impact on anything. Most of the good reviews on this game have like an hour or 2 gameplay and they've never touched the game again. that should speak volumes.
very cool game! the gameplay is responsive and it's fun to explore the dungeon. the rotating camera is such a surprising aspect! I thought the game was simply pixel art when I started, but then discovered I can rotate the view around. the car movement is also cool, and fighting enemies in it was satisfying. cool writing, I gagged at some jokes (like running over the poor guy at the hideout, in the beggining, haha) a very solid start with solid mechanics, will play and explore more
A vibe lembra bastante: Rock n' Roll Racing nas corridas insanas e combate veicular Grand Theft Auto 2 pelo visual top-down e clima criminoso pós-apocalíptico The Legend of Zelda nas dungeons e puzzles Só o motor, VRUM VRUM, POW POW BOM DEMAIS
RoadOut is an excellent exploration game. It manages to maintain a minimalist pixel art aesthetic while remaining full of detail and feedback. The details are quite diverse, ranging from animated scenes to character and enemy avatars during dialogue. The mix of exploration with rotating camera view, combat, and racing works surprisingly well, and the post-apocalyptic visuals with retro/synthwave aesthetics give the game a lot of personality. The soundtrack is also excellent and perfectly matches the atmosphere, varying between exploration and combat moments. It's clear that this was a project made with a lot of passion. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys creative and stylish indie games.
Me diverti muito jogando Roadout.
Really fun game! I almost refunded it because of the weird camera mecanic in building, but i'm glad i sticked with it! Cool driving, good combat, interesting story, great vibe! I recommend for any pixel art lover out there! <3
