You, Calligrapher

You, Calligrapher is a VR exclusive calligraphy simulator. You're given a virtual environment to practice calligraphy lettering with Eastern characters, and a few game-like challenges to complete. That's all there is to it... this is less like a game, and more like homework. This seems to have been made a VR exclusive to prevent any comparison with non-VR 3D games, a comparison that this game would fail very badly at. Developers must learn that while VR is great, if the only thing that makes the game great is the VR, then the game (or non-game in this case) isn't great at all. You, Calligrapher didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for clearing 5 sheets of paper, and only around 11 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game, barely over 1 in 10 players. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 9 players. That's right, only 9. This is a pitiful enough number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is remarkable, but also to be expected. This complete and utter rejection of the game from gamers should be a keen information point for anyone considering buying shovelware like this. Gamers just didn't take this seriously, and for good reason. You, Calligrapher has the totally bloated price of $13 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games, let alone the sheer number of free games available on Steam. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

As a mandarin chinese student, I really recommend to play this game, It helps you to remember some hanzi while being in peace. The game don't have a lot of hanzi by default, but you can import them to the game. I think it is a little bit overpriced, I would like to have more rooms and maybe lessons to use the brush correctly, I did chinese calligraphy irl at my class, and I can imagine how difficult is to enjoy the game without knowing how to write correctly.

You, caligrapher ist wie das ultimative Buch, was ich auf eine einsame Insel mitnehmen würde (wenn man gezwungen wird, nur eins auswählen zu dürfen). Das größte und dickste was es gibt, mit lauter leeren Seiten. Diese kann man nun füllen - mit Worten, Gedanken, Bildern, Erkenntnissen (oder das, was man dafür hält). Und vielleicht mit der Suche, nach dem perfekten, tja was? Wort? Symbol? Ausdruck des (eigenen) Lebens, des Unbegreiflichen, der Wahrheit - dargestellt durch Pinselstriche. Die letzte Seite in dem Buch ist genau dafür vorgesehen, für jene mystische Essenz von Allem. Bliebe diese Seite leer, weil am Ende einfach alles "leer" ist? Oder würde man etwas in sich finden, mit dem sich das Unaussprechliche durch Pinselstriche darstellen lässt? Mit dem Aufsetzen der VR-Brille gelangt man hier auf seine einsame Insel. Vor sich das "Buch", praktischerweise mit unendlichen Seiten. Es gibt ein paar Pinsel, es gibt Farben. Man malt einen ersten Strich, was folgt ist Magie. ... Nun, eigentlich kann man hier auch mit Pinsel bewaffnet chinesische Schriftzeichen lernen und zeichnen. Ziemlich interessant. Man man bekommt eine entsprechende Vorlage, und zeichnet sie nach. Eine "Geisterhand" kann einem zeigen, wie das Zeichen geschrieben wird (Reihenfolge, Handbewegung). Zum üben hat man unterschiedliche Zeichenflächen zur Auswahl. Leer, mit kleinen Rastern, Raster mit Symbolen. Die Raster ohne Symbole kann man auch zum üben "westlicher" Buchstaben/Muster verwenden. Oder zum entwickeln eines Graffiti-Buchstabens (gibt gewisse Zusammenhänge zwischen Kalligraphie und Graffiti). Wenn der Pinsel für letztere Beispiele auch eine ungewöhnliche Auswahl ist. Aber mal schauen was bei raus kommt, kann ja nicht schaden. Am Ende hat man was neues entdeckt und die (Kunst)Welt revolutioniert. Interessant und eine super Idee, wie man den Controller zum malen/schreiben/zeichnen halten soll. Das sollte auch auf andere VR-Spiele übertragbar sein. Werde ich bei Gelegenheit mal testen. Ein paar feinere Pinsel im Spiel wären schön. Und ja, Goldfarbe. Für alle die sich fragen, wozu die leere Schale über den Farben steht. Da ist Wasser drin. Hat eine Weile gedauert, bis ich das kapiert habe. Und ist nicht ganz unwichtig, da es den Malprozess doch erheblich verändert, da sich die Farben so verdünnen lassen, was zu sehr viel mehr Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten führt.

玩其他VR游戏晕动症犯了，就来这里放松一下，这是我买得最值的VR游戏之一，甚至觉得他可以卖得更贵。 希望还有后续更新，DLC可接受付费，更新建议点： 1、地图。可以选择不同的场景写字，比如湖中亭、游船等。 2、玩法。目前玩法只有自由模式和描字模式，建议加入一些纯文本材料，让玩家可以抄写。 3、字体。目前里面的字帖以简中为主，建议加入繁中。

毛笔写字手感很好，笔迹也很到位。但是总体来说太简陋了，功能太少。
