As someone who uses Sketchup to create houses etc from scratch for fun, this game seemed very intriguing. I really love the idea of this game, and the prompts, but the execution of functions during building creation need some tweaks. I have spent 16 hours on this game already, and I have completed 2 projects and maybe 25% of another due to functional issues during the creative process. There are a couple things I hope that are fixed ASAP within the game that create a LOT of frustration when trying to create homes: 1. If I choose to move an existing wall or draw a new wall and they happen to be near another wall, it will not allow me to move that wall where I want to for no reason (for example, if an East to West wall has a wall joining its north face at 10', and I want to draw a wall starting from the 11-12' mark on the south face, it will not let me even if nothing is in the way. It will turn red, and refuse to let me create a wall within 3'3"~ 4' of the wall that is adjoined on the opposite side. It also randomly refuses to let me divide rooms at certain points, again saying there is an error with distances. It also will decide to not allow walls partially in the room unless they are at really odd angles for no reason, which I will get into more later). There is no logical reason why I would not be able to put a wall within less than 4' of a wall on the opposite side of the adjoining wall. That needs to be fixed asap because it creates a lot of redoing/ frustration for no reason and doubles/triples the time it takes to get the base of the house drawn. 2. If I turn snap off, it will not actually turn off EXCEPT for objects. When snap is turned "off" while attempting to create walls/ structures, it will not turn off even if it says it is off. 2b. Speaking on that, if I turn snap onto angles, it will sometimes decide to snap to 90 degrees. However, most of the time it randomly decides to snap to 89 degrees, 64 degrees, 140 degrees, etc, and will refuse at all costs to do a 90 degree angle on a wall. When I turn snap off, it will again not turn off and continue to snap to random angles no matter what. It is beyond frustrating, because again it will turn red and tell me for no logical reason that I cannot put a 90 degree wall there. Again, nothing in its way, just deciding that other walls across the structure in different rooms somehow dictate that this wall must be a weird random angle for no reason. 3. I cannot draw a wall across an existing object, but objects are allowed to have their edges slightly phase through walls when they are placed..... makes no sense. In my opinion, to avoid a lot of those errors, all objects should be allowed to phase through objects to optimize creativity options (ESPECIALLY when it comes to cabinets in the kitchen, shelving, etc. No corner cabinets for floor or walls creates a lot of issues visually and functionally). 4. No corner kitchen cabinets for walls or floors. There is a "corner" shelf that has no 90 degree angles, so it never actually fits anywhere 5. TIp: Allow objects to be shrunk and enlarged by certain percentages to allow more creative freedom. 6. Tip: Appliances, toilets, showers, baths, tvs, and "extra"s in general should still cost money. That is apart of the challenge of meeting budgets. I recommend increasing the budget to more "real" amounts that people are paying for the houses and provide a more realistic experience in regards to budgeting for kitchen, bathroom, and otherwise items (cheap shower vs nice shower, cheap toilet vs nice toilet). It is confusing that that is done for some things but not others. 7. Tip: Fix the crashes. It crashes at least once or twice per 4 hours of game play. Hopefully someone will see this to fix the major issues, and at least maybe get some constructive feedback from the tips I gave. If you are thinking about buying this game, I would say that there is satisfaction in finishing your project, being able to walk through it, and the prompts are fun and challenging. If you will be able to get past/ not have the game ruined for you by the functional issues (which honestly, if you have them in mind it can help you avoid ... some... of them) then by all means try it out. But SAVE OFTEN and wait for it to go on sale.)
poorly produced game. A lot of bugs, poor snapping features, after walls placed and texture added you can no longer move length of wall. Very low interior options. Very low options for doors, windows, mirrors, air cons etc. list goes on. DONT BUY - until you start seeing review where devs are giving this game some TLC
Save your time and avoid this one. Even when selecting feet for measurements, the scaling is completely broken. Doors appear 6 feet wide, yet a large corner sofa is somehow the same width as a narrow staircase. Additionally, the "snapping" feature cannot be toggled off despite the settings suggesting otherwise. The asset library is also severely lacking; for example, you can only use inbuilt fridges, with no standalone appliances available. If this was designed by an architect, I’d be worried about the floor plans. Apparently, we’re all expected to double in size just to fit through the massive doors.
If you expect the SIMS, boyssssssssss you are in for a disappointment. If you expect a tedious design and repeat, you are in a wonder. I can see how it is not most polished game. BUT I expect more with this price. TLDR: lower your expectation. Get the game while it is discounted.
I don't hate it for the price I paid (£13), however this absolutely not worth full price and *barely* worth what I paid. TL:DR fun to kill a few hours doing the shell of a house, but definitely don't pay full price or expect much more. You're better off buying Sims for house building, and just constantly starting new families for that purpose. The wall/ceiling construction is okay. Curved walls are limited in use and there are no options for half height walls, but generally it's not bad. I couldn't progress with the tutorial due to playing on a touchpad (despite remapping the zoom, the tutorial insisted I use the middle button), but it's mostly quite intuitive. When you get beyond the shell, you realise just how limited options are. Yes, you can change the colour palette of things (some of them. But not wallpaper/flooring, for some bizarre reason??), but there are so few options overall. There seems to be no hope for more - the general consensus on discussions is that this game has been abandoned. There is no way this is worth £34.99. Save your money and buy something else, or wait for a major sale if you're desperate to try it.
i suggest buying this game but not on full price, here's why ( even if i said all this i still absolutely love the game there's just some parts to this that are a little annoying (ehem the snapping) but overall its a good game) 1. the game is fun but it is extremely limited, the snapping features in my opinion is the worst , measurements are also not accurate. 2. even if i turn off the snapping it still does it 3. the roof sometimes snaps to the interior walls in which i absolutely hate that 4. i absolutely hate the fact that you cant rotate the roofs 5. although the game has a tutorial it is still a bit complex to use it doesn't ruin the game that much tho 6. interior and exterior items are limited 7. the walls from the first floor show lines on the next floor, and while that's ok, when putting walls on the 2nd floor the walls snap because of said lines from the first floor walls 8. continuation from number 6 , everything is modern that's a game changer because i absolutely adore themes such as contemporary, goth ,cottage, and vintage. ( if you prefer modern then please ignore this ) overall the game is very limited, the snapping isn't good, the way the roofs snap towards the interior walls, and the measurements aren't accurate 1. and while yes there are many good features i like how there are options for the scenery, allows snapping for the grid lines and angles( although be it performs horribly), i also like how it shows the angle num. 2. i like how everything is organized 3. i like the career option 4. i love how there is a free play 5. i like the options for the items although its all modern 6. i ABSOLUTLEY ADORE the building montage and the ways it can halt the building process and how we get to problem solve when something happens 7. i like the fact you can configure the name of the rooms it allows it to be more organized the graphics are pretty good the game play is pretty good the tutorial is also informative
Way too basic compared to what I was expecting. There are some free design tools out there that are better, have more variety, and better controls. Edit: Honestly, now that I think about it, a lot of companies would pay you to put their products into your game, so there really is no excuse for why the variety of decor and patterns is so limited. This is really just a halfassed scam.
good game overall. also worth getting the packes
