Yosemite Forest Ranger

So, I'm going to lightly recommend this game because there is enough exploration elements and walking simulator goodness to overcome the rather dull (so far) storytelling. The tapes did nothing for me but I very much enjoyed making soup and warming up inside and exploring the abandoned national park. If more survival elements get added before release buy it. If it stays as is and just adds more tapes well.... Edit, so several months have passed and the updates are almost non-existent. No reason to keep this on my hard drive.

This is honestly really cool. Unfortunately, it is very early and is frustrating in ways that it maybe shouldn't be. The stamina bar is the most egregious fault in a game about exploring points of interest. Also, the cassette tapes should play when you pick them up. Having to take them back to a radio just isn't that much fun. The rest of the game is standard survival exploration crafting fare. The voice acting is a nice touch. Fun & relaxing game, in the Early access version right now. Of course there are some things that will change or improve in the future, but as of right now, a chill gaming experience. A very enjoyable game, especially in its current early release form. It is the devs first game, and much more fleshed out than a lot of first games. The graphics are great, the scenery is beautiful, the forests, mountains, river. There are seasons as is usual. The map is much larger than I had thought it would be at this stage. So far I have encountered very few bugs, occasionally sound stops and requires a reload to get it going again, but the dev and his team are aware of this and already working on it. The game is set in the early 1980's, and as a Forest Ranger the game starts with you driving along a road and then oops, you lose control of your non power steering car and crunch. You're fine, but now you have to walk everywhere. There is a short tutorial, it is typical of the survival genre in that you need to look after your HP, food, temperature and thirst. There is a stamina bar also. The game has crafting, exploration, a story line. Very good voice acting, with our guy having some funny lines, tongue in cheek, sarcastic etc. Although sometimes it seems like there's a second voice actor. Both done really well though. I also suggest not just staying to the trails, lots of resources are off trail. Running at EPIC graphics settings for over an hour can cause my 3060Ti to overheat and the PC to reboot, but my rig isn't the greatest anyway. Changing to high (which still looks amazing) or medium settings has resolved this issue and I'm still experimenting. Overall, I'm enjoying this game, I'm quite curious to see how it develops. I recommend this game as long as you bear in mind it IS very early access. There is plenty to do, things to find, places to explore, secrets to discover, and try to keep yourself alive.

Absolutely beautiful game was so fun to stream amazing cooking and foraging. I am so excited to see where this game goes because right now just WOW!!!

I got a chance to try this game out and loved it. Itvis early access and I look forward to what will come out in future updates. The voice acting of the character adds more immersive. Little details can make a huge improvements in a game, and I have noticed a lot of small details.

Beautiful open world game, really could get lost in here. I think the sounds and interactions feel really clean and snappy, keep up the good work, look forward to exploring more... deep in the woods :)

Great work in progress! I know this solo dev is constantly working on improving and bug fixing this game. The open world is really nice and looks just like the Yosemite area. I look forward to continuing to play and anticipate the new updates!

A very relaxing game to play. You can spend hours just roaming around. The attention to detail really adds to the immersion. I had read in the Discord channel that the developer was working on an improved version, so I waited until that was released. And I must say, so far I've not come across any big issues.
