About
The chess roguelike. Play game-changing cards, bend the rules, save your Queen, and escape from the dungeon.

Defeat opponents of ever increasing difficulty to escape from the dungeon.
Build your chess army. Start with just a few figures and recruit more as you go.
Collect cards to turn the tides of the battle.
Defeat each enemy Queen on your way to freedom.

Play cards to bend the rules of the game in your favour and win against unbeatable opponents.

Spend mana to play cards such as:
Summon a Shape Shifter that transforms into a random figure each turn.
Start a zombie outbreak - zombie figures do not care for the colour and attack white or black equally.
Launch an ICBM nuke.
Build walls and traps.
Launch a propaganda campaign to turn enemy figures into your colour.
And many others!

To win you either need to get smarter or to get stronger.
With every game you accumulate mana to buy new cards and chess pieces that stay with you in each new run. Maybe you would even get a chance at escaping from the dungeon.

Some of your upgrades will persist between runs, helping you to get closer and closer to the exit. Some will reset with each new run, making each new game unique.

the dance monarch is such a fu**ing s**t that should not exist in a chess game
Another chess roguelike, this time a fusion between balatro and chess. The execution of this concept has not worked unfortunately, and the game is too tough around the edges. The two main issues are the game quickly becoming very repetitive and the walls closing in with a warning that comes too late leading to cheap losses.
I enjoyed about 6-7 hours of playing. After this I realized that this game simply lacks replayability needed to max out relationships with all the characters. going through the whole game loop just to raise a relationship by one point is a slog. there are not really any variaty in levels from different playthrough (if you go through it once it's fun) and after you are fully upgraded there is really only one optimal way to go through the game. I don't want to go through half the game to talk with who I want. I don't like having to beat final level 8 times for all the endings.

До этой игры я думал, что хорошо играю в шахматы. Теперь, цитируя королеву, "Я собираюсь лечь и не просыпаться, пока полностью не забуду правила шахмат".
very AI moves never make a mistake, always need a 200% brain to try to beat a 1000% brain.
I'm a bit torn. I think there's a fair amount of bugs or gameplay mechanics that don't make sense to me, but I know it's indie dev so I'll just recommend it here. I like the bosses and the cards, but some cards seem like auto-drafts whereas even the situational cards just seem bad to ever draft. 1. I just lost my best run because of poison "killing" all my troops. My king was going to make it to the mines and win the level, but while my king is sealed off (due to the walls) with no way to die - my run ends? It doesn't seem fair because I was playing by just pushing my king forward - I did not think I'd need to defend my other troops 2. The very first level needs some more randomization. I'm tired of restarting to the first 3 pawns every time. 3. Shop is glitched. I'm unable to purchase the items that give you the permanent buff to future runs - I had it for maybe the first 2 hours of me playing, but after a certain point they stopped being offered to me - whether I rush or advance and play the normal way. 4. Maybe this is a "skill issue" but I'd prefer some warning sign to know that my King is in check. There have been times where I have the position to stop a move, but because I don't see my King is in check that I just die because I'm not looking there. IMO just a ! sign on the side should be enough indicator. 5. There should be a way to discard cards (even if it costs 1 energy). I noticed in one run I drafted too many cures (or potions, I forget the name) and I had no cards to even cast them on. I basically bricked my own hand (maybe another skill issue) but I still think you should be able to remove cards from your hand. I'm putting this game on hiatus for now because I'm way too heated that I lost a 2+ hour run due to what I believe is faulty game mechanics. Will come back once dev fixes the "bugs"
The characters are all surprisingly cute and well-written. Cute in an anime character way but not overly cheesy. It provides a creative and fun way to play chess. I have played quite a few chess roguelikes. This is one of the best uses of chess mechanics while adding on things to make chess less boring, so to speak, without making you overpowered or abandoning chess’s core gameplay altogether. One of the major flaws is, the game does lack Roguelike progression between runs, as some reviews have pointed out. The overall upgrades are pretty underwhelming and you generally need to rely on building your deck for each run to defeat each bosses. It probably forces you to become a better chess player, but there should be some optional upgrades for players who want to become more overpowered or have more fun doing different things going through each run. Overall, a very well-made game that deserves more love.
Geralmente eu não gosto de jogar xadrez contra computador, prefiro jogar online, com pessoas. Mas atualmente este jogo tem monopolizado meu tempo. Um ruguelite muito divertido para quem gosta de xadrez.
Fun twist on chess! It took me quite a few rounds to start to learn the strategy and figure out what cards I should be using, but I love the added dimension to the game. This adds a lot more creativity to how you win against an opponent and adds a lot more fun.
