é legal, me diverti.
"Yapori Minigames" is pure, weaponised cringe. If you're unaware of the Chris-chan/Sonichu nightmare, well, congratulations for having lived a good life so far. Don't google it, don't ask. This is a parallel evolution of that, from Brazil (I think) where the cringe hybrid Pikachu/Sonic the Hedgehog is green. This is a collection of minigames from the drag-and-drop Clickteam fusion construction toy that was published on Steam as a paid, for profit product (Don't laugh, and it gets worse). The purpose of this pure cringe Chris-chan/Sonichu fan-fiction is, of course, not to be a game, but to advertise a "TV series" (read: absolute, pure cringe Youtube video) about the "developer" and his relationship with a green furry version of Chris-chan's Sonichu. I'm not kidding. This will make you throw up. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. This feels more like a tech demo or a project smacked together hurriedly to try make a kind of minimum viable product just good enough to pass the developers unambitious idea and shove it into Steam Direct to see if you can actually pay $100 and publish junk through Steam Direct. Yeah, you can. Is this good for gamers? Nope. The graphics here are particularly awful, Chris-chan MS-Paint palette swaps of Sonic the Hedgehog, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. On the important matter of pricing and value for gamers, there's a lot going on here with monetisation, so this really shouldn't be considered a truly free product because of that. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $2 USD for this. This is indicative of severe, debilitating levels of delusional grandeur. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB shows this peaked at only 4 concurrent players (all of whom were abnormal psychologists)... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? What's the verdict? This is only valuable from the perspective of abnormal psychology, and should be avoided by all human beings. At the end of the day, my reviews are intended to help gamers find quality and avoid the dregs (with over 140,000 games on Steam... not all of them are masterpieces). If you think my review is wrong, definitely add this to your library, download it and play it... it's surely exactly the kind of game you'll love (but I doubt it will work out that way). Game reviews are for gamers to share their thoughts and help others choose where to spend valuable time. If my review helps you to grab or reject this game, then my job is done.
Yapori is the new Bubsy.
