Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties

[h1] 수작 [/h1] 말도 많고 탈도 많은 극3입니다. 개인적으로는 까이는 것만큼 재미 없는 게임은 아니라고 생각합니다. 단점만큼 장점도 명확한 게임이라고 생각해요. 먼저 제일 까이는 서브 스토리를 대폭 줄인 점이라든가 캐릭터 모델링 및 성우 변경은 저도 불호라 대차게 까여야 한다고 생각합니다. 다른 캐릭터는 바꿔도 그래도 아주 이질적인 느낌은 아니었는데 리키야는 정말 원판이 훨씬 나아서 너무 이질적으로 다가왔습니다. 그리고 볼륨같은 문제는 바하3 리메이크를 보는 거랑 느낌이 비슷했습니다. 줄이지 않아도 될 분량을 왜 줄인지 모르겠어요. 개발 자원이 쪼달렸다고 밖에 볼 수 없습니다. 반면 장점은 원작의 가장 큰 문제였던 재미 없는 고아원 운영 파트가 이제는 아이들과 직접 교류를 하는 컨텐츠가 생겨서 훨씬 몰입할 수 있었다는 점입니다. 물론 여기엔 전작의 컨텐츠 재탕이라는 꼬리표가 따라올 수밖에 없다고 생각하지만 개인적으로는 재탕이라도 재미 있다면 오케이란 입장이라 좋았습니다. 그리고 미네편도 미네란 캐릭터를 더욱 매력적이게 만들어 줬다고 생각합니다. 물론 컨텐츠 자체는 대부분 재탕으로 분량 늘리기밖에 되지 않았지만 스토리라인 자체는 좋았다고 생각합니다. 그리고 말이 많은 전투부터 시작해서 여러 컨텐츠 난이도가 줄어든 점은 개인적으로는 장점이라고 생각합니다. 아무래도 본편은 액션 게임이라 의외로 어려운 부분이 많았고 특히 도전과제 올 컴플은 진짜 엄청나게 시간 투자를 많이 해야했는데 이런 컨텐츠 난이도를 대폭 줄인 것은 좋은 접근이라고 생각합니다. 그리고 여기부터는 스포일러입니다. [spoiler] 어찌 보면 가장 큰 변경점이라고 볼 수 있는 엔딩 변경인데, 개인적으로는 나쁘지 않다고 생각합니다. 물론 미네란 캐릭터가 마치 원피스의 에이스나 그렌라간의 카미나처럼 죽음으로써 서사가 완성되는 캐릭터이긴 하지만 단순 1회성으로 죽이기엔 아깝다고 생각하기 때문에 그간 해왔던 카시와기나 리처드슨처럼 다시 살려내도 이후 나왔을 때 더 반가울 거 같아요. 다만 하마자키는 어찌할지 모르겠네요. 얘가 감옥에 안 가면 극4는 어떻게 시나리오 수정이 들어갈지 궁금해 지더라고요.[/spoiler] 아무튼 전체적으로 봤을 때는 재미있게 했습니다. 정가주기엔 살짝 애매하기도 하고 기존 팬들에게는 좀 아쉬운 게임이 될 수도 있겠지만 입문하는 사람에게는 좋은 게임이라고 생각합니다.

I am speaking as someone who played the original title and had a ball with it. For context, I played the series in chronological order, and that provided a very open mind when reviewing the original Yakuza 3. It didn’t match the story heights of the prior two titles in my eyes, but the move to next-gen hardware, coupled with the bold swings with the Morning Glory story missions, expanded side and minigame content, and gameplay choices with combat and progression, left us with a controversial yet supremely genuine Yakuza title. I’ll be honest: Kiwami 3 doesn’t match the charm of the original. Its art style and aesthetic choices go in wildly different directions. Some of the casting decisions are truly baffling. On the gameplay side of things, the title being on the Dragon Engine fundamentally affects how it feels. But despite all this, I had a damn good time. Hamazaki was one of the most polarizing characters on offer, feeling entirely separate from his original counterpart. A ton of the original side content was either ripped out or repackaged in a different format…which means it’s locked behind minigames. It’s not a great choice; it felt like my ability to sew or cook was getting in between me and my family. Complaining aside, I had fun with the Morning Glory side content. I had fun with the girl gang missions. And most of all, I got a solid 12 hours out of the added Dark Ties campaign, and I easily could have gone longer, as I still had a ton of actual story content to work through and championships to trounce. In short, do I consider this a substitute for the original Yakuza 3? Absolutely not. Do I consider Kiwami 3 a magnificent complementary piece to be played after experiencing the original? Without a shadow of a doubt. Purchase this game. It’s a full-sized expansion pack, which is A-OK in my book.

Jogo sem alma. Vazio. E o que me dói é ver esse preço maior que o de alguns jogos que devem concorrer ao GOTY. Pior: saber que ele dependerá completamente da comunidade de mods de Yakuza para ter algo que preste e se aproximar do original (que nem é tão bom assim, apesar da choradeira da comunidade. ninguém se importava com Y3 até o K3 ser anunciado). Não é um game ruim, mas está longe de ser o remake que todo mundo desejava. Na verdade, é um jogo super preguiçoso, feito com a menor quantidade de esforço possível visando a maior quantidade de lucro possível. E olha: funcionou e tem funcionado que é uma beleza, ainda mais com a publicidade sem vergonha que ela tem feito ao usar influencers do YouTube para enganar pessoas (vi algumas que me deixaram realmente desconfortável). Não recomendo comprar. Sei lá, esperem até dezembro e joguem algo que preste até lá, possivelmente mais barato, porque há vários games na Steam e o mais interessante: longevos em comparação a este. Quando sair a promoção de fim de ano, o preço diminuirá o bastante e aí vocês se arriscam a comprar. Eu comprei de bobo, mesmo. E decidi que não me aventurarei a comprar mais nada da RGG até que eles lancem algum produto de qualidade. Enquanto isso, me aventurarei em outras coisas até Y9 dar as caras (correndo risco de eu também abrir mão deste). Boa diversão a quem realmente quer comprar e decidir que fará isso. Vocês são verdadeiros heróis, mesmo sendo feitos de bobos por uma empresa que não respeita o dinheiro de vocês.

Casting controversy aside, I liked it. Gameplay feel's great but I still think the weapon stance is goofy, the new minigames weren't bad but the side activities over all wore out their welcome sooner rather than later. I think the upgrade system was a step in the wrong direction. Once again Yong Yea ruined the English dub (stop hiring that guy plz) I didn't mind the reduction of substories, and I felt it helped the games pacing actually. I haven't finished "Dark Ties" yet but from what I played of it, it's not really worth buying the game if you already played the original and were only interested in buying it for the Dark Ties add on. I do recommend buying it, but only on sale especially if you have already played the OG version. Possibly my least favorite RGG game yet but still not a bad game by any means, it had its charm, getting to be more involved with the orphanage was kind of nice, but the biker gang scenario was kind of lame and got old fast. Hopefully this game was no indicator of the future of the series because it seems to be going in the wrong direction. Hopefully whatever the devs have planned next turns out better. 7/10
