The story is good and all with some touching moments but my god the combat is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying. The enenmies ethier spam Dodge, block or grab instead of attacking you. On the 14 Hours that I wasted on this game, I could say that I had almost an hour stuck in enemy grabs or attacking a blocking enemy. Just watch a resume of the game atp or buy it on sale. Its more difficult than Sekiro and Dark souls
Akiyama my beloved
Akiyama my BELOVED TAEKWONDO KING!!!!!!!!! Coolest fighting styles in the series tbh, and best level up system! And a really fun map and really amazing songs. I like it so much, even if the story is a bit... like, it gets worse as it goes on, and the bosses aren't great, but that's what the coliseum is for!
Beware of Asian men wearing pointy shoes 4 I can confidently say that marathoning the entire Yakuza series is a pretty bad idea. I jumped into this one right after Yakuza Kiwami 3, and from a gameplay perspective it felt incredibly sluggish and exhausting. At the end of the day, it's still a remaster, and by 2026 many of its gameplay mechanics simply feel dated and worn out. I'm sure there are plenty of people who enjoy the huge amount of side stories and mini-games, but I tried to avoid most of them because they felt more tiring than entertaining. To be completely honest, there were moments when I was literally falling asleep trying to push the story forward. So why play it? While I found Kiwami 3 much more enjoyable in terms of gameplay, its story felt like it wasn't really going anywhere. Yakuza 4, on the other hand, takes the narrative to a whole new level. Instead of focusing solely on Kiryu, the game introduces three additional protagonists, each with their own storyline. As the game progresses, these stories gradually intertwine before coming together in a single payoff. You'll get the classic Yakuza insanity bordering on complete nonsense, unexpected plot twists, heartbreaking moments, and genuinely touching scenes. Honestly, it's hard for me to think of another game series whose story I've enjoyed following this much. More importantly, even after so many entries, the developers never seem to run out of ways to keep the narrative fresh and maintain such a high level of quality. It feels strange saying that about a game released over fifteen years ago, but it still manages to stay engaging. Like my friend once told me: the gameplay may not always be enjoyable, but the story makes it absolutely worth it. The narrative alone kept me going despite the outdated gameplay. So if you're interested in the Yakuza series, this is definitely not a game you should skip.
游玩体验很好,但我老家一个120岁有阿兹海默的老人说话都比这指引清晰,这真是10年而不是01年的游戏吗
better than 3 although side content is still not very good
It's a game from 2010, and it shows in every element. The main story and Kiryu's quarter (+his subquests) were good, the rest – meh. I didn't care for the other three characters at all; I didn't do a single subquest with them. Furthermore, the gameplay is prehistoric – movement, combat, indicators, items, map, save system – the whole thing is slow, junky mess. You have to forgive a lot of things to enjoy this game.
Machinegun Kiss
