Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2/day in the week to Aug 14 → 2.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Definitely feels like an XCOM lite edition. But in a good way? I struggle to finish games that are super long (Skyrim, Wartales, Still working on Act 3 of Baldur's Gate 3). But this game scratched a nice itch for a game I can play leaned back with mostly just the mouse. And the story ended in a decent amount of time. Long enough to be interesting, but not so long that you've burned out by the time you're past the climax of the story. Would have been nice to have the final FINAL battle feel a little more epic/momentous. Or at least have the game hype it up before going into it. But it's a minor complaint. Pretty fun game with interesting levels that don't feel overly recycled, even for a ~15GB game.
Really fast I learned this game was not like the other X-Com games. Needless to say, i did not like it.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 21: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

It’s like XCOM but with Saturday morning cartoon energy. Turn-based combat is still fire, breach mode is actually fun, and the squad banter makes me weirdly attached to these alien homies. Not as hardcore as classic XCOM, but honestly? Sometimes I don’t wanna sweat bullets, I just wanna watch my snake lady yeet bad guys.
Not the best Xcom but still a solid game if you like tactical.
Great game and fun to play! I like how they expanded the X-COM storyline. The game is mainly close quarters combat so be prepared for that. The characters are fun and have immersive personalities. Definitely worth buying.
All other Xcom games have been great, and I was super excited to play this. I saw a lot of negative reviews, so let it sit for a few years until the 'Bugs' were fixed. I started her up in 2026 and played the game within a week. The bugs!!! oh my god the bugs. Multiple restarts on ironman because of unplayable bugs crashing my game. only 30 hours of playtime, and that included time trying to unbug the game. I am a huge fan of the franchise, but can gladly say, this game was a dissapointment.
I absolutely love this game. While the whole series is awesome, this one is especially warm and cozy. The idea of humans working together with old enemies in xcom setting is well implemented here.
As a budget XCOM game, this is actually a pretty interesting experiment. I think part of why it didn't land for me was it was going for the tone of a saturday morning kids cartoon cop show at a time when I was sick of weird copaganda ♥♥♥♥ in basically every media property. I also think the tone was a little weird compared to how serious XCOM 2 was. However, with time and distance, I think this is still worth closer examination. We really haven't seen any mainline XCOM content since 2017, with War of the Chosen. Playing this won't necessarily directly scratch that itch, but if you were ever curious about how Firaxis wanted to experiment with the formula, this is worth a look. If Chimera Squad had reckoned seriously with the implications of trying to rebuild society and rebuild trust with civilian populations after years of paramilitary and authoritarian rule, I might have been more engaged with that? The strategic layer seemed to lack some of the teeth of previous games. Narrative and strategy layer aside, I didn't mind the fact that your squad was bespoke characters with their own upgrade trees. I also think the breach mechanics were mechanically interesting. I hope they continue to keep these in mind in future XCOM games.
A tasty X-Com snack
Want more X-Com, but don't feel up to the commitment required to play through Enemy Within or War of the Chosen? Chimera Squad is here to provide you with some of that sweet, sweet tactical turn-based dopamine magic, without a huge amount of (hardly any, really) strategy and planning to bog you down. In the wake the events of X-Com 2, the elders are gone, but some of the other alien races have stuck around and made nice with us humans. So much so that there is a species-integrated police force that is tasked with bringing the perpetrators of a sinister plot involving the assassination of City 31's mayor. The missions are all relatively short, consisting of a single building with a couple of rooms. Things get kicked off each time with a bang, as your squad performs a breach, kicking in doors, blowing through walls, and/or sneaking through vents. Each ingress point will have different penalties and/or bonuses, so it's up to you how you want to do it. The longer missions will repeat this action 2 or even 3 times as you make your way through the building. Your squad is a diverse bunch, consisting of humans, sectoids, mutons, even those snakey guys. Each soldier has a skill tree that, while simplified compared to X-Com, is completely unique to them, so you're guaranteed a different experience every time you mix up the members. Strategy-wise, you have to manage panic within various districts and city-wide, as well putting your agents on civilian missions to increase credits, intel or research. There's gear to buy as the missions get harder. And that's about it. Very simple, but satisfying. I almost would've preferred the game to be a tad shorter as I was getting a tiny bit bored by the end, but, as an X-Com fan, I am ecstatic to have this game and recommend it highly to any and all other X-Com fans.
