Awesome game!
pretty neat
Have had a lot of fun with X4 over the years. Very Deep Game. Can get lost in it for hours.
Very good space sandbox
Got the base game and Cradle of Humanity on sale. It's a fairly complex game and although there are tutorials, I do have to look up help fairly often to figure some/many things out as the game doesn't give you all of the info you need. So far it's pretty enjoyable and it's somewhere between arcady and realistic. I'm generally following the main story quests which has resulted in me getting an additional, better ship than the starting ship. Now that I've got the beginning of a station, the main tasks are getting materials and money to upgrade the station. While there are main missions, it's ultimately a sandbox game where you can do what you want, like pirate, trade, explore, build etc.
The game has a bit of a learning curve for sure and the tutorials to actually be able to know what to do take you almost an hour but once you start getting a hang of it is genuinely one of the best games I have played in a long time. From building your own empire of commerice to boarding and raiding ships like a pirate this game really captures what a space game should in every element. I've had so much fun so far and I feel like I am only half way through my first game if that. If so hooked and it just keeps getting better. Notice how every review over more than a few hours is positive, i recommened you give it a real shot if you want a game your really gonna love.
I really wanted to love this game, spent some times on it. But it's not worth it for me. The game is really made against player, and by that, I don't mean the AI. Everything is made clunky, from the UI to the management, so everything becomes hard, painful for no reason. And It's no fun at all after a while. Too bad cause it could have been fun. If you're like me, and want to try it despite the negative reviews: 1- Buy it on sale 90-95% (something like 5-10 $/€ max (max max max)) 2- Use mods - when you encounter ridiculous problems with the game, check the mods. People faced the same problems you face 3- Check everything you do 3 times. Exemples: 3.a: You click on an object, 1) do you really think it selected it ? 2) Are you sure ? 3) sure sure sure ? 3.b: You rotate the object ... WTF !!!! you didn"t check well. But after you do it again, you rotate it. No ! Not that ! Not this way ! What !!! Nooooooooooo Trying to rotate an object, you grabed another which rotated the way it wanted. And you still don't understand how that was possible in the first place... You didn't check enough before click / grabing to rotate. Your bad.... argg.... 4- When you did something after cheking 3 times, regularly check 3 times now and then, because meh, it may have change for whatever f... reason (you begin micromanagement,, and as the game goes on you start managing an empire, but with only micromanagement because mecanism are made to have you constantly check whatever you did... no fun, no fun at all, not aven a bit) 5- Did I tell to check all you think you ordered ? 6- Don't raise your expectation high. Seems great at first, but the game turns out no fun in the end, and I'm not talking about the story or the .... quests ? nahh, ... I won't call that quest, rather .... uninspiring uninspired tasks Sigh Serenity Plenitude Comfort Satisfaction Heaven I tried it, but leave it at last. It"s the best feeling I had from this game ^^
Brilliant space game, but takes a little to get into.
