Excellent game, i understand the reasons it got a lot of negative feedback in the beginning, which was mostly to performance / tech problems, but the game really shines now. They said from the start its not a continuation of X3 but something completely different and as such i enjoyed it very much.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I paid about $1 Canadian for this game! If I was to echo that famous line from RUNNING MAN, I'd BUY THAT for a dollar...it would be pretty appropriate. This is pretty much the BEST game I have ever purchased for a buck! Works flawless on a 4K monitor, hundreds of hours of content. Remember this thing has been patched since it came out. I heard it used to be a bit of a train wreck. Yet when looked at today it is one of the FEW X games besides 4 that can play well on a 4K monitor (you have to make a 3x UI change in the CONFIG to pull this off proper so watch a video on it please). All it took was adding ONE line of code to the config in the documents folder :) Yes, amazing what you can get for a dollar these days...the amount of luv, patches, and play guides make it a must purchase on sale IMO!
On vit vraiment à bord. On y reçoit les transmissions, les rapports, les alertes. On y embarque des copilotes. On s’y attache.
I've only played X4 before this, but I do think XR is still very cool. A coffee and a morning of XR is always a pleasant experience
Still a crap game after all these years. Big no-no on every level. They really can't make games anymore since X3 :(
Coming from my background of video game experience (no previous playtime with the "X" or similar space games), this game required a significant amount of time and effort to understand it and get to a point where I could say I was enjoying my time with it. But once it got there, I felt like it was able to scratch an itch I've had for a long time. The game has its quirks: -Being stuck in the same ship for the entirety of the game. -Obtuse AI management. -Station interiors are awkward, repetitive, and not fun. -Horrendous copilot. That being said, I liked it. Exploring creepy parts of space that hide Xenon bases. Searching different faction capital shipyards for the perfect instruments of destruction. Soaking in the various varied environments. Trying to find my niche to fill in the games overall larger economy. Also, can't forget: steamrolling the galaxy with massive capital ships, each with hundreds of turrets and drones. Sure, sometimes the game looks underwhelming, but watching my massive capital ship lumber up to the enemy and light it up with the full salvo of 200+ guns, pretty darn satisfying. I dunno. Some people aren't going to like it. For the reasons above though, I'm going to give it a thumbs up. Oh and if you do want to try it out, get the "New Frontier" mod. Adds a lot and I wouldn't play without it.
I remember playing this in 2013 when it came out. Superb game but it had performance issues and many bugs, The famous "energy cell" bug on the first mission of the campaign. So many memories. Now being complete for some years its like another game. 9/10
