Excellent game, i understand the reasons it got a lot of negative feedback in the beginning, which was mostly to performance / tech problems, but the game really shines now. They said from the start its not a continuation of X3 but something completely different and as such i enjoyed it very much.
I remember playing this in 2013 when it came out. Superb game but it had performance issues and many bugs, The famous "energy cell" bug on the first mission of the campaign. So many memories. Now being complete for some years its like another game. 9/10

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have tried to play this game so many times. There's so much to try to like about this game... Wonderful visuals, fun HOTAS gameplay, and great space simulation. That said, the UI/UX is absolute garbage. I just do not get it--Egosoft has been making these games for some 15+ years. You'd think they'd improve their UX in SOME way, but no. X Rebirth is a better version of X3, but only 1 ship, some really terrible campaign try, and all the things that made X3 great, stripped out (it's not better than X3, but the space/flying mechanics feel more 'real'). Even at version 4.x, this game is terribly bug-riddled. Starter mission? No idea what to do. Finally blindly get into a fight with some big carrier? I clip into their hull, breaking the entire save, making my game unplayable. That's terribly frustrating. If you love space sim games with storylines and lots to do otherwise, this game could be that game. For me, though, it's been nothing but a few years of trying to play this game with nothing but frustration and boredom to come of it. Is X4 any good....? Dietrich Vader's Verdict: 1.5/5 Bug-Riddled Asteroids
As of this review, game is unplayable. Crashes shortly after reaching the main menu on a fresh windows 10 64bit PC. Tried various fixes, and my pc is well over recommended requirements.
It's really not that bad of a game. Honestly, i'd even say it is pretty good in a lot of ways. But a definite departure from the X formula that can come off as jarring to those expecting a continuation from X3: Albion prelude. I really enjoyed the main storyline, but that is as far as I went into this. I just really did not see the point in trading. For better stuff? I have a single ship that is designed to do anything and everything already.
Played for years. Good to see the game once again receiving updates. Thank you to the teams involved.
super!! <3
Самая атмосферная из всех X-ов.
One of the most broken games on launch I've seen (on par with Cyberpunk) This what happens when a studio turns it's back on the PC fans (which helped give them business for many years) - In an effort to cash in on the console market hype from years ago. Once Microsoft saw how bad / unfinished / buggy & unpolished this game was, they denied Egosoft the rights to release on the X-box platform. It wasn't fit for purpose, Microsoft wanted nothing to do with it. Egosoft then panicked and rushed out this bad port, converting the already horrible console version into an even worse PC monstrosity. This was the result.. Absolute karma, they got everything they deserved.
