Addictive little game. Imagine Tetris + any word solving game. I like that you can solve words in any direction as long as they letters are next to one another. Power-ups are useful (5 letter words for a bomb?!) Try to keep track of Q, Z or X words! I fall back to Qed as often as I can. I seem to max out around level 15 or so until it gets too fast. It's a good game to pass the time with when you don't have a lot of time to play or challenge a family member to. Leaderboards are a nice touch.
Chill little word game - create words from falling tiles, listen to some calming music, look at some nice backgrounds. The inclusion of multiple modes is a nice touch. I had some minor issues with the dictionary (it seems to have trouble with some -s and -ed word extensions) but overall it's fun and, at the higher levels, quite challenging! I like the points bonus for hitting the "hurry up" button, and the bomb and letter switch functions are useful. The letter switch is sometimes a little tough to use - I'd prefer if you had to click both letters rather than lining up the outlines correctly as I occasionally end up switching the wrong letters ... but that might just be a me thing! Overall worth a look. A really great "coffee break" kind of game.
Love the chill mode, fun to keep it going while watching a movie or listening to a podcast.
This game is such a cool blend of relaxing and challenging. The falling blocks add just enough pressure to keep things exciting, but it never feels overwhelming. Making words while managing the screen feels super satisfying, and the powerups add a nice layer of strategy.
Wordy Rain is a grid-based word game where lettered tiles fall from the sky into gaps on the grid. The challenge is to make words from adjacent tiles, including diagonally, which then disappear and clear part of the grid. It's a bit like a word Tetris. There are three power ups which you can use when the meter is full, which include a refresh of all tiles; a bomb which blows up a small area of your choice on the grid; and a letter swap which swaps the position of adjacent letters. There are two modes called challenge and chill. The challenge mode increases the speed of the tile drops as you earn more points and level up. You can also artificially create tile drops which multiplies your next word score by up to x5 but obviously this fills the grid up quicker. The chill mode gives you the option of playing without these time constraints. There are personal and online leader boards for highest score and longest word along with achievements. There’s also a new feature which associates ten mystery words to a certain theme every season which will earn you an achievement if you can get all ten before the season ends. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3566724801 The dictionary has now been fixed to include verbs and plurals which was my main gripe with the game, so it is now possible to make longer words. I would like to see the swap tile be a swap with any tile on the board not just adjacent tiles because at the moment it is pretty useless. The game provides some fun in small bursts, especially if you enjoy chasing high scores or using the chill mode as a form of relaxation. The backgrounds and music while you are playing are actually very nice, and the backgrounds change ever so slightly when you do well or level up, like a flock of birds will fly off. I thought that was a really neat idea and I would like to see that developed further. The menus look very basic with ugly text and ugly leader boards. It looks very basic and definitely needs a spruce up. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3566398235 In challenge mode, the game gets too fast around level sixteen and it’s almost impossible to keep up because you are under so much pressure that you can only knock out quick three letter words and the grid soon fills up. This means each run will earn you roughly the same amount of points so it is almost impossible to beat your highest score by much. There are achievements for getting to level thirty, forty, and fifty, but I think that would literally be impossible considering how fast level sixteen is. Each game lasts around fifteen minutes in challenge mode so it can be a nice time waster if you enjoy word games. I think I would rather know what the mystery words are or at least have an option to reveal them, because I think this is another almost impossible achievement to obtain because it is hard enough for those words to randomly appear on the grid, let alone guess what they are too.
🍳Conclusion🍳

Wordy Rain is a decent attempt at a word game and there are some nice features like the relaxing animated backdrops and music. The dictionary has now been fixed but the game has poor achievements and an amateurish look. There are definitely improvements that could be made but fixing the dictionary is enough to recommend this for word game lovers.

Thank you for reading my review.
