Very fun
Really good - well-balanced and gives upgrades that are meaningful but still encourage you to try to spell more complex words. Great for Steam Deck
Generally a very good word / vocab / puzzle game. If I was to be super picky I would love more control over the selection of buff cards and or more game options including and open sandbox type one with limitless lives. But overall a very satisfying reliable game.

Does a great job of combine conventional word game mechanics with gaming style modifiers/perks.
A clever word game with enough dopamine hits to keep you going for hours. Masterclass in casual game.
A quality wordsmithing distraction. It's pretty easy to get drawn into, especially when you just need something low energy and thoughtful to unwind with. However, I've found myself wishing a few things were different. For starters, having "Qu" tiles inherently (as opposed to just “Q” tiles before a random upgrade) would be convenient. It also might be nice to have the special tiles play a more significant role or simply show up more often. Finding modifiers/synergies that stack is disappointingly rare, and I've seen the same set of modifiers/gifts/upgrades a number of times already. Personally, word puzzle games that are strongly focused on finding the single longest word in a set can lack nuance, as opposed to puzzlers that create sets with multiple viable plays via layers of special buffs and/or situational modifiers. Crafting one solution to a puzzle and then being motivated to discover and evaluate other possibilities makes for highly rewarding turns. Even with its many existing score-boosting mechanics, Word Play has a lot of emphasis on word length and I believe the game would benefit from leaning harder into those creative elements. Although, I’m now realizing that I might be protecting my fondness for Bookworm Adventures 2 onto Word Play too much here.
Incredible word game, if you're a fan of the classic BookWorm game from yesteryear I highly recommend Wordplay. It leans juuuust enough into the Roguelike elements to make each run feel fresh, without getting lost in the weeds. My wife and I play together as we wind down after our work days (and she is anything but a gamer lol)
Gotta start by saying I am all for this absolute drug of a game. It's gambling with words, it's Balatro with letters. BUT I suspect it's doing what StS2 is doing, as in the "difficulty" ramps up in RNG, not skill requirement. As in, if you do a build based on using a certain letter, special round is "oh, bummer, you can't use this letter", if your build is based on submitting shorter words, guess what? special round god won't even dignify any word below 6 letters with a score. Or, I'm paranoid, or maybe it's standard procedure, it's just making me want to stomp my feet and yell NO FAIR. Still, game good, game make brain happy.
This is the kind of game that I would play on the subway on the way to work. It's no Balatro and it definitely could use more updates but if you like word games and you can get it on sale, it's pretty decent.
its fun, I always find myself coming back to it occasionally.
