Delve into the world that is Subarashiki Hibi ~Furenzoku Sonzai~. For a visual novel that reportedly borrows philosophical elements (i.e. Ludwig Wittgenstein) for the plot, it's worth taking a gander; but below the surface, it's mostly just a disorienting mess of a story that fails to cohesively tell a narrative. The main focus of it is its psychological horror, but it too is a beautiful and rather hopeful story at times. It has both merits and flaws that if you can look past its H-scenes because it's an erotic game, you will find why people strive for happiness and seek the meaning of life, along with grasping the poetic messages of Emily Dickenson, with a little sprinkle of themes from Alice in Wonderland thrown in for good measure (hence the English title is partially called Down the Rabbit Hole). It has a cult-like following as a kamige of sorts, but in all honesty, a game like this really only deserves to be experienced once. For the characters, Otonashi Ayana is a creepy girl who appears out of nowhere, asks you a lot of deep questions that makes you confused and ponder about what is the truth or real. Mamiya Takuji is the worst protagonist I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, since he proclaims himself to be the savior who will bring salvation to the world on July 20th, a day infamously known as "End Sky," by having every student of Kita High jumping off of the rooftop to their demise (which is for the sake of returning to the sky as described by Takuji). It's mostly just a detective story with a lot of psychopathic hallucinations. If you want to try and interpret the story in a different light, be my guest. However, in my opinion, it's not for the faint of heart so look elsewhere if you can't stomach any disturbing, graphic content. After all, KeroQ designed this for a specific audience in mind, so it's definitely not for everyone by any means. Take it as you will, but it's so nauseatingly decadent that I think only a handful of people who are into the "denpa" genre or fans of Saya no Uta would be a much better suited crowd. It's a hard game to recommend to anyone who hasn't played visual novels before, but I'd say starting out with Steins;Gate is safer, which makes for a more interesting mystery and sci-fi experience than this one.
good horny game, v. deep and meaningful. also, there are lesbians.
it's peak but also has me banging my head into concrete harder than the protagonist bangs his own sister
层层剖析真相的剧情设计,非常有创意。哲学与电波的氛围打造和最终温暖治愈的结局,更是锦上添花。
