Wolfenstein: The New Order

This one is top-tier for me. It takes a very old-school idea — one angry man with guns against an entire nightmare regime — and somehow turns it into a shooter with real weight, style, and heart. The gunplay is excellent. Heavy, loud, fast, and satisfying in that classic FPS way where the game doesn’t need to overcomplicate things. You can sneak when you want, go loud when the plan stops being cute, dual-wield like a man solving diplomacy with ammunition, and just push through some really well-paced levels. What surprised me most is how much I actually cared about the story. B.J. could have been just a walking jawline with weapons, but the game gives him a tired, human side that really works. The alternate-history world is dark and absurd, but it has enough detail and emotion to feel bigger than just “shoot the bad guys in cool locations.” It’s brutal, cinematic, weirdly heartfelt, and just fun as hell to play. One of the best modern FPS campaigns, and still one of my favorite examples of how to revive a classic without sanding off everything that made it special.

Former American soldier, you wake up brutally in a Europe under Nazi rule. The story is extremely gripping, it starts off really strong. Characters are believable and, above all, the world you explore is vast. A game where you find yourself in Poland, England, and even space, all seamlessly, is definitely a big plus.  Overall, the story really conveys the oppressive atmosphere of a totalitarian regime. The dialogues are very well crafted, both heavy and emotionally balanced so that you either get attached (or not) to the characters.  As for gameplay, there's nothing to complain about; the game is very smooth, the fights are intense and well-balanced, and you get both stealth missions and shoot-everything-up scenes.  Graphics-wise, it's just stunning. The shots are very well done, and the special effects when you shoot at walls and enemies are realistic (a bit gory). It's really top-notch. To sum up, New Order is a unique game, on one hand because it's a quality FPS and on the other hand because the franchise offers us a really well-written story. I highly recommend it.
