About
You are one of the three survivors of the slaughter of Castagath. Rescued by Grand Inquisitor Heimlock, you were drafted into the Republic’s Army of the Purifiers at a very young age to be trained in the military academy and become perfect soldiers against the supernatural. You also had the chance to benefit from Heimlock’s occasional advice and training, which led you and your childhood friends, Valeria and Edric, to be called the “Children of Heimlock”.
Recently, the Brotherhood of Dawn has infiltrated the Crimson Keep, a mysterious republican fortress lost among the northern deserts known as the Red wastes. While the purpose of the attack was unclear, the republican Senate voted a retaliation act against all known locations of the Brotherhood.
Led by Grand Inquisitor Heimlock himself, troops are soon deployed on the Coast of wrecks, near the city state of Stormfall, to terminate a camp of Brothers. You are, with your two childhood friends, part of operation Dawnbane, under the supervision of Justicar Maëlys.

Excellent game !
Not in my favorites category, but decent. Gameplay repetitive, but good mechanics, battles, etc. Pretty standard story, and I didn't really care about any of the characters, but they don't allow the dog to get hurt, so they have that going for them. A bit simple, but fun.
Picked this up some years back because I like other games in the genre. Played about an hour and it was not good. But it was still early-ish in development and I figured over time it would get better. Honestly, I should have returned it when I had the chance. Not only did it not get better, it actually got worse and on top of that the devs completely abandoned the game. So anyone that purchased this is stuck with an unfinished and half baked game with no hope of it ever getting fixed. And it still costs $30 even after they dropped the price! It's not worth anywhere close to $30 and a do not recommend this game at all, especially not at that price.
The main campaign is actually pretty good. I recommend quitting immediately after the campaign though. The end game content is so unbalanced, that its not fun at all. Didn't die a single time during the campaign, but died three times, almost immediately on my first contract...One hit kills from blue named enemies, that were supposedly at my character level. The game is playable with a controller, but there are serious targeting issues. Campaign 7/10 End-Game 1/10
I mean it's alright...
Wolcen is very mediocre for an ARPG...fun, but not gripping. Voice acting is hilariously ridiculous and gameplay is ok...similar to van Helsing. Feels like a cheap Diablo 3 knock-off but for the sale price, its worth the jam and peanut butter.
The game is nice in the story department and the combat is ok, but lacks of balance like most of the ARPGs, you either kill super easy are are almost immortal or you die in 2 or 3 hits. Usually when you die its because you eat a AOE without noticing it, or stand in one for too long also without noticing it. The boss fights resort to multiple adds and the difficulty usually involved how many adds you gonna get and how frequent. Healing is limited in charges and the boss fights are very hard since everything is covered in AOEs and not all of them are easy to see or to avoid since there are craps literally everywhere and the telegrams are red and with some scenarios that color is not ok to see it while in combat with explosions and lights everywhere. I got it for less then 3 euros and got 28 hours out of it before getting bored with the endgame, which is like all ARPGs: repeat elite maps and missions over and over again and build some craps on the city for the final fight with the mega boss. I got bored way before reaching the boss, got a liutenant fight and got obliteteated by a constant storm of elites and adds. The rest of the missions are generic hunt the prey or kill X elites and then go to Y and kill Z. End game is so generic and repetive that its completely understandable that they didnt have a huge succcess with it and had to shut down the online servers about one year after release since they cost money and they didnt have many players that wanted to grind the same content. 5th skill slot is unlocked via a city project in the end part of the game, its terrible. You can only use summons as either sorcerer (max 3 summon slots) or one ranged sniper summon with the melee classes and im not sure but i think the ranged class doesnt have any. I played as sorcerer and the basic attacks are not very good with a start delay but they bounce and deal decent damage, and the best spell i used were the fireball and the chain lightning. Game is abandonware at the moment, the company stopped the development in 2025 and there is no online option. 6/10
