About
Witchfire is a single-player RPG shooter from the creative minds behind Painkiller and Bulletstorm. Embark on perilous expeditions, vanquishing foes to enhance your powers and arsenal. Scavenge valuable resources and retreat to your sanctuary, or push your luck by confronting Familiars— the powerful guardians of the witch.

Skill and knowledge are essential for success against the Witch of the Black Sea and her witchfire-fueled army. If you die, return to the battlefield for a one-time chance to reclaim what you lost, or attack again with a new plan.

Explore vast, immersive biomes and choose your battleground to confront the witch's forces. Each completed encounter strengthens you and your arsenal through the roguelite system called Arcana. There are countless ways to build your preyer and dominate the witch.

Only the most wicked sinners are transformed into preyers, undead assassins sustained by witchfire flowing through their veins. In the base of operations known as the Hermitory, you can choose from a wide selection of distinctive weapons, spells, and artifacts to build your own preyer.

On each expedition, you can extract your looted items or, if you feel confident, confront the witch’s Familiar to unlock new areas and powerful items and upgrades.

Piece together a story from the past to save the future. Investigate ships crashing on the verge of the witch’s land and locate the artifact that can tip the scales in the ongoing war between the Church and the witches.

During the Early Access period, Witchfire will undergo changes, including new areas, enemies, weapons, and tools of destruction. Help us shape the game to reach its full potential!

Shiny graphics and great atmopshere. I've only just started so take this with a pinch of salt, but beware it's an "enemy ranged attacks travel at close to the speed of light" game (more like the imps from new Doom than old Doom) so you have to know when to hit the dodge button or you get hit no matter what. Maybe it's like Expedition 33 where you just have learn how to time the dodges for each enemy type? I'm hitting recommend just now because it seem like it might be good despite this. I'm trying to be open minded :) Will update as I play more. Update: mechanics confusing. "witchfire at risk"? I can have a guess at what "at risk" means, but how do I make it not at risk? Can i put in a stash? Can I invest it in bonds? nobody knows....
Criminally good game. A lot of content and fun never stops
this game is really effing cool so far. lots to explore and learn. barely scratching the surface so far.
хорошая игра, рекомендую с релиза очень много, чего добавили и много, чего изменили в лучшую сторону
Great game :)
muy entretenido
Witchfire is a masterpiece in the making. In my opinion there are pros and cons but the cons come with a huge asterisk because they are actively and aggressively combating them. Pros: *Game runs incredibly smooth (which by todays standards all live action games usually run worse than the average American household.) *It is a production company that listens to its audience. Even as of the most recent update they added a melee weapon (Something the community has been asking for for a while) *The game is very gritty and the immersion is easy to get lost in. *The soundtrack is wonderful. It gives you exactly what you want out of a dark game like this. *(Specifically an opinion of someone who bought it a long time ago) THEY ADDED A CAMPAIGN. And that was AFTER i had gotten towards the end of the available content. I cant stress enough the fact they cared enough to add an actual followable campaign with character development is just.....a forgotten art among most games today. *The guns feel so good. Its hard to explain but tons of games have weapons and you fire them and it just feels like....a wet noodle? Idk but im sure if you grasp the first part you will get what im saying. This is NOT one of those games. The gunplay is crisp, its harsh, and its very rewarding feeling when you get a nasty headshot and their heads come clean off from the power. *Last but absolutely not least. As i write this its on sale but at full price its only 40 dollars. Cons: *The game is fairly imbalanced with the weaponry. Some of the weapons while sounding and feeling good just fall flat. But even as i type this they have balanced a few so i would say this is a miniscule worry. *Its incredibly punishing. I cant stress enough this game is TOUGH. Its reminiscent of a dark souls game or something on that level. You WILL die and you WILL get frustrated. That's half the battle and half the fun is overcoming those obstacles.(I place this as a con only because to me that is a wonderful mechanic but some people do NOT care for that level of difficulty. If you want a safe, easy game. This game is not for you.) *Negative to some (While not to others) - It is somewhat of a grindy game. You will sometimes go in, get absolutely butt slammed and make no progress over maybe getting a few enemies and load it up again. So sometimes you can play for like 2 hours and make very little progress. And other times you will be completely locked in and may god have mercy on the souls of the sinners. All in all my opinion is this game is a 8.5/10 and to be completely honest its teetering towards a 9/10. I am frothing at the mouth to see how 1.0 lands and if its anything as good as the rest of production has been, you dont want to miss the train.
The game is absolutely astounding. It does a great job of gradually introducing new mechanics over the course of a playthrough--even now, I continue to find new mechanics that add more buildcrafting and more variety to the game. It's quite difficult, but almost never in a way that feels out of the player's control. The only feedback I have is that when judging the fallen preyers, doing so shouldn't remove them entirely from the game--this disincentivizes the player from engaging with the story, in my opinion.
It's not too steep a learning curve. It's also not a walkover. Very happy to recommend this game. Probably runs best with 16GB of video RAM but runs fine with high quality settings instead on an 8GB GPU.
