My first engine builder and I was hooked right away. The digital version keeps things moving, and the music and bird calls are very enjoyable. Easy to get into as a casual player.

Wingspan is a unique board game where there are multiple strategies to win the game. While initially learning how to play the game can be rather overwhelming, I'd say the overall experience of the game is relatively fun. The theme of game seems more geared towards people who love birds, and while that may be true to some extent, it can be enjoyed by all types of players. The expansions not only offer new birds, but also a different way to play the game. These new modes aren't as hard to learn as the base game, so I'd recommend anyone who really loves the base game to get the expansions as well. You can tell the devs have put a lot of love into it. The animations, the colors, the artwork for each individual bird and background; the quality speaks for itself. On that note, I believe it's well worth the price.

Wasn't expecting much from this game, but I've lost hours to playing this, it's so much fun. So much info and so much strategy at the same time, what I like in a game. Give it a try.

I couldn't enjoy this game on tabletop. Then I was introduced to it on steam, the game is so good that when I want to play a random game this is my go to. I always find myself in different situations, oddly it's calming and soothing. I think it was more interesting without the edition of nectar, but if someone doesn't like that, they can uncheck that bird set. Well well well worth it.

[h2]A beautiful card game with engaging gameplay and a great soundtrack![/h2] I had my eye on Wingspan for quite a while and finally bought it a few days ago - it was an instant favorite for me. The art is absolutely beautiful and I love all the cute critters :3 The soundtrack is also excellent, and I found the gameplay & flow to be engaging throughout the course of the game. Overall I love it! For my comments below, it's probably also relevant to say that I've never played a card game of this type before, so I have no idea how Wingspan compares to similar types of card games. [h3]What I liked:[/h3] -- Absolutely beautiful birds and art -- Great soundtrack - the music is nice and calming, but also actually INTERESTING. No obvious repetition and it works well with the style of the art to create a great vibe. -- There are fewer turns in each round, and also a different bonus goal for each round. This creates direction & momentum over the course of a game. -- The effects from the birds seem to be really varied. Their actions can be wildly different and it's been fun to come across new birds and try out their unique abilities. -- The number of turns you get per round feels right. The rounds don't feel too long or too short. -- The number of rounds in the game feels right too, so the overall length of a game feels just right. It's long enough to use a game-length level strategy, but not long enough to get boring. -- The game seems generally very well-balanced. There aren't any instances where one mechanic seems more difficult to use than the others. For example, the food/egg cost to play a bird doesn't seem too low or too high. It's balanced so that some birds are easy to get out there, while other higher-value birds take an additional food or two to play - and you can choose which route you go. -- You can use different play styles - for example focusing on playing all the birds you can vs. focusing on the end-of-round goals vs. going for the conditions on your bonus card. I can tell there's a lot to explore here, and I can also see how each approach could win depending on how the game goes. -- Bird facts!!! The only thing I'd change is to have an expanded tutorial. I still felt pretty unsure about things at the end of the current one. The individual mechanics were all explained, but very separately, so you couldn't really get a sense of how a game goes until after you finish the tutorial AND you've played a few games. I'd love to see an update with an expanded tutorial that includes a short (maybe 1 round) practice game that includes each of the turn types.
