About
Windrose is a survival adventure set in an alternative Age of Piracy. It features the classic “build, craft, survive” formula along with intense combat and engaging exploration on land and sea.
Progress through vast procedurally generated biomes filled with hidden mysteries, hand-crafted dungeons and quests. Gather your crew and captain your ship through brutal naval combat with boarding actions and seamless transitions between ship and shore.
Defeat challenging bosses on your swashbuckling adventure driven by real-world characters and supernatural forces alike.
Every legend begins with a reckless crossing.
You are a captain who dares to challenge Blackbeard. What begins as a grounded story of survival and revenge draws you into a growing conflict between empires, pirate clans, and mysterious dark powers looming on the horizon. Windrose is steeped in the allure of the Age of Piracy.
Answer the call of the seas and move seamlessly between ship and shore. Naval combat is shaped by your decisions, whether you’re trading cannon fire at range or closing in for fierce boarding actions. Equip and customize your ship to suit your playstyle, from nimble ketch to versatile brig and monstrous frigate. And when the cannons go silent, claim your spoils and share a sea shanty with your crew as you sail onward.
Establish a foothold in vibrant, diverse biomes, gather resources, and build to your own taste, from simple shelters to elaborate mansions and fully developed forts. Recruit NPCs and grow your settlement to speed up harvesting and production.
This world belongs to the brave and the curious, so venture into the uncharted lands. Over 100 hand-crafted dungeons and points of interest contain endless secrets and treasures, though such rewards rarely come without risk. Trade with different factions to gain the edge you’ll need.
Hack, slash, batter, and shoot your way forward! Master a wide arsenal of melee weapons and firearms. Parry and dodge enemy attacks, chain different strikes, and keep an eye out for new gear, including sabers, rapiers, halberds, greatswords, pistols, muskets, and more.
Shape your combat style through talents and flexible loadouts with unique armor sets. Use food and potions to gain powerful buffs. Test your skills against a wide range of enemies and challenging bosses, defeat them, and claim their treasures.
Windrose is fully playable solo offline or in co-op with friends, supporting up to 8 players, with both self-hosted and dedicated servers available. Procedural generation will make each journey stand out. Please note: due to performance, especially in the late game, we recommend to play in the party up to 4 players for the optimal experience.

the ship combat was fun, but the land combat (and you do alot of it) is kinda trash, enemys just ignore stunns, and very often you get stunned locked and just die. very basic enemys can kill you in 2 hits. it doesnt feel reward when you kill them like dark souls dose. the game is just very rage endorsing, as the stamina only allows you hit twice before you just cant do anything. eating food basically does nothing, i will give land combat one thing, the range is pretty good and fun but you can make your own gun powder until late game so you can only use it sparingly. TLDR: Not a surival game, land combat is ♥♥♥♥.
Finalmente un bel gioco dove fai il pirata! Promette molto bene
WHY DOES THE BOAR DO SO MUCH DAMAGE?!?!? ITS A DAMN PIG. WHY DOES IT 1 SHOT ME
Constantly crashing. Maybe 1/3 of the crashing is opening map or fast travel menu. Other times whenever random. But usually after a 20 minute maritime battle where I've died multiple time trying to board another ship with maxed out gear and no other quest that aren't even harder and if you get hit twice you die. Crashes entire PC. Erased entire scenario except the ♥♥♥♥ I used in battle. It's gone. Power scaling sucks. You are a paper tiger even when you grind 5000 pigs and max out gear then you can get hit 3 times. but only by the weakest creature in the game. You cant see xp number so you don't know what affects it. It gets to the point where you just grind making ammo and just shoot everyone from a glitched spot. There's no inbetween impossible and boring. You know, where fun lives. It plays more like a 007 game on hardest difficulty when on normal.
This game is everything I've ever wanted from a game about pirates.
Game looks great, the oceans and islands are fun to explore. The only gripe is the unbalanced combat. Even at level 5, a level 1 Crab can obliterate you in a second. You die alot, and sometimes by the dumbest things. Storming a ship with all higher level gear, you can be dropped by glitchy combat around your own men. Graphics are a 10/10 for me, but the combat system feels ok but gets a 3/10 for the issues and unbalanced play.
i would recommend this to fans of survival games HOWEVER adjust the settings, like how much damage the enemy takes and deals. getting stomped by lvl 2 boars in 2 or 3 hits is not my type of game. some other things (at least in my play through) i cant say im a fan of the leveling system. only getting exp through missions and clearing out camps on islands, thats fine. what bothers me is the level jumps in missions. by the time i reached level 5 the game was wanting me to face off level 8 missions. any other game id say this is fine but in this one, if you leave it at its 'normal' settings the game is brutal. craft those traveling docks, that saves you so much time. alternate between what you do so you dont get burnt out. theres sailing, ship battles, crafting, base building, fighting, gathering. everything a survival fan (esp a valhiem fan) would like. You unlock random specs through chests. specific ones are through the faction sellers. you do have to level up your rep with each faction to access better items. this can be done at the main trading hub (easy) or their main base (random locations) Ruins have puzzles. They are not tomb raider level. nothing is too hard, all you have to do is look and then look some more. Islands and faction locations are different per map. to find them either sail around or follow the main quest line. personally ive been sailing around after the main quest line took me the first faction. since then it hasnt brought me to another faction. BIG note, you can BUY and gain REP at the main trading hub. only way to sell to a faction is to go their island. so get those chests ready, esp if you plan on battling ships alot, bc youll be collecting alot of goods you wont be able to sell for awhile. along with fighting ships you can board them. boarding them is where you make money fast. looting ships is where youll get the loot to sell and raise your rep. Ive seen alot of comments about this one. yes, the FIGHTING IS BASIC. its not super diverse like COD or other games. I cant emphasize this enough. Windrose is the PIRATE VERSION OF VALIHEIM. (yes you have to sail around alot but its not as piratey as this one) ITS GRAPHICS AND BASE BUILDING OPTIONS ARE MORE REFINED. if you DID NOT LIKE VALHEIM theres a good chance you wont like this one. progression in this game IS SLOW. If you do not like slow then this isnt the game for you. combat is basic, if you dont like that this game isnt for you. Once you spend some time in game youll see its a chill pirate survival. if you like base building, so far i like the blueprints the game has and the build options are so nice. I dont know if id put as many hours into this as I have Valheim but maybe thatll change after i set down more ports so im not sailing as much (sometimes the ship battles are fun other times i just want to get to the location)
