I appreciate that this game is being made by a single person, which seems reason enough for some positive reviews, but I think criticism is still very much necessary. Wilderless is a neat idea for anyone who's into chill exploration games and taking photos in said games. The execution, however, leaves a lot to be desired. The one positive I can give is that yes, this is a pretty game with loads of screenshot potential, but that's about it. Here are some of the issues I found in my rather short play time: - World generation can be quite messy with props floating quite high above the ground. - Fast travel just doesn't work. I got stuck on that between multiple FT points and even attempted to change the world, but to no avail. I could access the options menu, I could see the area fully loaded, but I could not get out of the loading screen. - There are dungeons with traps scattered around the map. They seem pointless since there's no actual danger, as you can't die or anything of the sort. I've read somewhere that you can find... something in those dungeons, but I honestly don't see the point in them being there at all when this is supposed to be, and I quote, a "walking/hiking/photography simulator." - While on that, there's an inventory with weapons and magic and other trinkets. One of the spells spawns trees around you, but I don't see the point in the offensive spells, or the weapons we have access to. - Character customisation is there, but it needs improving. For starters, you have to scroll through each item instead of selecting them from a list or something, making the whole process quite tedious. I also couldn't for the life of me find a top option that didn't have breasts, or even an option to change the pitch of the grunts you make. I saw in a thread the dev saying that CC isn't gender-locked, but I beg to differ. From my experience, I was only able to make anime girls or butch lesbians. Where's the option to make a smexi anime boi? - The shelters you can spawn are quite underwhelming. The cottage is the most impressive, but it's still sub-par. You can't decorate it outside of a single corner which allows you to select holiday decors (for that corner alone) and there are only a few things to interact with, namely one or two chests and a wardrobe. - And finally, every time I opened the game I had to go through any settings I wanted to change all over again, including volume. Very few settings are saved between sessions, making it quite bothersome to open the game at all. I understand the potential of an exploration and photography sandbox. To this day I play Watch Dogs 2 specifically to walk around its rendition of San Francisco and take photos with Marcus's phone. I also often play Umurangi Generation in creative mode and I'm very much looking forward to Photography Simulator and Lushfoil Photography Sim. I've also played Toem, Pupperazzi, Penko Park, Sludge Life, and Interior Worlds. Wilderless should be right up my alley, but despite its low price, I couldn't justify keeping it when I've experienced more focused photography sims. This game is neat in concept, but I feel like the dev thought throwing everything in a sauce pan would result in a vast varied game when in reality, Wilderless has a lot of nonsensical features that greatly detract from its premise, not to mention the bugs.
Appears to be a partial or total asset flip because there is a lot of things that are mismatched in here. It... Works. You can boot it up and run around in a world. But there is a certain aspect of life that is missing at all times.
Time to slip out my back door. Sunrise dancing on my wall. Heading down off beaten tracks. Trying to get that feeling back. I could take a walk again, up a mountain to a stream. Standing on the open rock, looking out over the sea. Funny when we move ahead, never worry what we leave behind. I could always find some peace, In the back of beyond. A kind voice from yesterday, said give love, fill up every space. But now I laugh at simple truths, Sneer and frown like we all do. When the long night awakes, with memories, a midnight feast. Feel the boy in me escape. There's a field of frost beneath my feet. Run, never tire, run boy, forever and ever. I could take a walk again, Up a mountain to a stream. Standing on the open rock, looking out over the sea. Funny when we move ahead, never worry what we leave behind. Remember what a friend of mine said. You gotta be kind. 'Take a walk' -Split Enz
We need Chinese!!!
You can play as a dragon! 10/10 great game.
Very in an Early Access Game state. Otherwise it does what it intents to try to do in Early Access! You put in random data sets or ''seeds'' and quality features and it will generate a WHOLE map for you. The map can be sized varied too. This game is more like a creative/chill/loss of time/calming/art/artsy game. Like a game engine that you just run around in, and admire and light mod in.. For those looking to roll play or fight anything b warned there is no action, and the character runs and moves pretty much like an Alpha game. It did and seems to get updates! If to only imagine if this game became what Sony did with Dreams.. You can mod the map basically once you're on the map with lots of features..and save them too If you really feel like an artsy/alpha game and want to support the creator. I'd recommend. Otherwise it's like a bottle of water I paid for.. it's good..but I want more~ I'd give it a solid 2/5..but really really solid 2.. because it works and it's creative and lets you save worlds and it calls itself a game... I've spent weirder money and bought this one on sale
Really love my experience with it, is a unique concept and the art is really amazing, there's a good wholesome vibe about it that haven't found in other games! 100% would recommend.
Красивая игра. Но пока что не понятно что тут надо делать.
a little buggy but a beautiful relaxing game of casual exploration
