Warp Drive is a cart racer in AG racer's clothing (in this case, I'm referring to how Warp Drive in every department feels like a cart racer while the aesthetic is an AG racer). It delivers the bare minimum for the gameplay, only having a drift (extremely similar to a bike in Mario Kart) and warp crystal. Warp crystals have two functions so far in my time playing the game, which are Warp strikes and Warp boosts. They're relatively self-explanatory, Warp strike teleports your to an enemy a bit ahead of you and causes the person being attacked to spin out and Warp boost gives a good boost of speed along with invincibility, spinning people out as you run through them. The gameplay is extremely bare-bones and only makes me think about Mario Kart, it doesn't really bring anything unique to the table except for teleportation, but even then, the teleportation feels gimmicky. It doesn't even have separate modes you can choose to play on maps you like, only tournament which servers as a heavily gutted story mode without the story. Tournament ain't even tournament either, it's just a save in which it just gives you random maps and random objectives to reach on said map. And to add how much bare-bones this game is, most parts for the vehicle you customize use the same model with different textures applied to them and maps are rigid with visible open seams, allowing me to see into the void. The only merit this thing has is riding on the coat-tails of Hideki Naganuma's work that he did for the game's OST. TL;DR, A very bare-bones cart racer that looks like an AG Racer in which it brings nothing new to the table.

I want to love this game. I really, really want to love this game. But I just... Can't... And that hurts me. I'm going to start with the negatives: It's buggy. It's not what you're expecting if you're here for F-Zero, Wipeout, Redout, Etc. As others have said, it has the feel of a mobile game without the microtransactions. Races are randomly generated from a (from what I've seen) pathetically small list of elements. You can have a race, a rival race, or a time trial. That's it. The tracks are honestly fantastic, they're beautiful, have really cool ideas for settings, and beyond fantastic music, they also play well, but the teleportation is barely used, and there seems to be like 8 tracks. When I said bugs, I mean the kind that cause you to restart races. Missiles fired by you will lag behind your opponents like you're in a high ping game and regularly fail to hit, but they'll hit you perfectly fine, totally fair and square, right? When landing, sometimes you'll be teleported back by the respawn system. When you fall off, just restart, because almost ALWAYS the game will spawn you in the air, JUST off the edge of the track, causing you to fall again. Races are also far too easy, and usually only have 3-4 racers, including you. So, onto the positives. As with both games now published and developed by Supergonk, the visual presentation and races are simply fantastic. They look great, they play great, they sound great. Supergonk really has this down to a T, but the fact that they seem to abandon their games with little extra content produced (which is fine, but the content is usually tiny for the asking price) makes them not worth staying unless you really like them for some reason. The teleporting mechanic is fun, but barely used. When it is used, it's great! I love it. It's rewarding to find secrets. The car parts are plentiful and there seems to be a lot of choices. Again, great! But why no end goal? There's not much of a point in playing unless you just really like racing, and while this game is fun (WHEN IT WORKS), that's not enough for me. The random parts mean there's nothing to work towards. Just hope to god that you find a part you want at the end of a race, which granted you probably will. Come on, Supergonk. I know you can fix the bugs. Please. That alone will bring this to a positive because I feel like you have enough here that works, but again you just move on to the next game. Don't do this. I'm genuinely a fan. :(
Doesn't work on sd. Asks to sign into profile There is no place to sign in or create profile..... So not verified as working
WARNING: Does NOT work on Steam Deck. TLDR: You get an error on the opening screen and can't get past it. According to a forum post, the game used to work on Steam Deck, but doesn't anymore. What happens: It initially loads into a screen with the only option being a button to press A to start. Pressing A shows the error message: "THERE WAS A LOADING ERROR. PLEASE TRY AGAIN." Under that, it says: "ERROR: A SIGNED IN PROFILE IS REQUIRED TO PLAY. PLEASE SIGN INTO A USER PROFILE." Under that is an "OK" button that does nothing. The game is not frozen. It's at 60fps and there's an animation as if you are pressing OK, but nothing changes. The error message stays on the screen forever. No other buttons on the controller do anything. Everyone seems to have the same issue. Switching proton versions, or going into desktop mode does not help.
Came here because of Hideki Naganuma's name being attached to the soundtrack, thought, 'this fun little arcadey racing thing would be great.' As it turns out, the main theme is all you're really going to be here for - and besides, it's on YouTube anyway. No need to shill out to this game to listen to it. So, few things. This game looks...fine, doesn't have any outright graphical *issues* that I know of, so that's fine. It's got that kind of Borderlands-y style to it, but the more you play it, it's going to feel like you're playing a licensed game. It's filled with kitschy little jokes in every item description that make little sense, the soundtrack for every LEVEL THEME (note: not every TRACK) is the same. Forest level? Same song for all four tracks. Snow level? Same thing. Desert level? You betcha. That's all there is to it. Three level themes with four similar tracks each, all playing the same music. To move away from the music, though, there are a lot of glaring gameplay issues, namely one that held a magnifying glass to my eye in order to direct sunlight into my pupils so I could see how *immediately apparent* this one issue is. So, in this game, you earn gold by racing, and spend it on a rotational upgrade pool after every race. Neat system, I can easily say I kinda liked that about the game. It pays you to play, and the more you play, the better your little hoverbuggy gets. The visual designs are pretty alright all-around, too. However, the gameplay...lacks. Controls feel more or less the same regardless of your three stats of Acceleration, Speed and Handling, the gameplay loop is...pretty much good for the first time through and that's about it. After that, it's impossible to see any replayability. You'll have seen just about everything after your first playthrough of the three tournament cups, and what made me refund this game is as follows. In Warp Drive, you have 'special abilities'. Most of these pertain to the usual gameplay loop - some make you boost after hitting an item, others involve drifting, so on. There's one that flat-out just breaks the gameplay loop completely. You JUST win if you use this thing. So. If you hit a racer in front of you with a missile, or behind you with a land mine, you get the energy you used deploying it back. There is no cooldown on this upgrade. There is no limitation on how long you can use this upgrade. It is JUST that good. All you have to do is spam the landmine button and you will remain in first, no matter what difficulty you play this game on. Bit of an oversight on the devs' behalf would be a complete and total UNDERSTATEMENT as to describe the sheer advantage this single item gives you over *literally* any adversity in the game. Really had high hopes for this one, but it feels like a licensed game I would get a code for on the inside of a cereal box. Hopefully the devs will make more than just 3 levels and a few flashy modes. Or this game will stagnate. Who knows.
This is the type of game where its all show, no go. The racing is incredible boring, as you are just teleported everywhere, instead of having to steer your vehicle in sections where there isn't any track. It just way to assisted/mobile game like for this to have any depth or fun.
