Not worh it. Hex Grid but Zero Depth 👎
4/10 – 400+ cards but half feel like reskins with commitment issues. Great, now I can be bored in 400 different ways. You place a wolf, it eats a rabbit, numbers go up; peak ecosystem. The hex grid pretends to be strategy but it’s mostly “drop stuff and hope it pops.” Synergies exist, just buried under repetition and meh pacing. [u]Campaign mode adds politics, which is bold, because it’s about as exciting as actual politics. It’s mildly fun… just not 10€ “skip lunch” fun. I'm not the greatest at this game. But I did like it. Unfortunately, I cannot pass the first 3 bosses. I was hoping to try a few other starting decks, maybe change the playstyle up. But you are stuck with the first deck until you beat the first playthrough maybe? I guess I will not know, nor will I get the chance to try because I'm not good enough. Oh well...
Honestly pretty amazing despite a few issues. The run structure, the cross-synergies, the way you draw and position, all while striking a good balance with the complexity of mechanics and is very intuitive for the most part. Dare I say the gameplay loop is easily among the best in the genre. The visuals are incredible as well. As for what I have a problem with, I think the stickers could have a few more unique effects and also need a bit of balancing as some are just universally better than others. I think the characters are just different enough with their starter decks as it provides starting points for build directions, but unique passives would definitely make them perfect. The most egregious (and easily fixable part) are the unlocks. The amount of times you have to win with each character is absurd. The card pool feels a lot better the more of these you get, but you'll be spending a lot of time just to get to that point. Not to mention that the re-election difficulty (basically ascension) has 14 levels, and it's PER CHARACTER. While annoying, that doesn't take much away from how fun it is at its core. Outside of that and some technical hiccups during loading and lack of graphical options (and controller support if that's often what you use), it's still an easy recommend.
I enjoyed this game because the game design is welcoming. I'm not a big fan of deckbuilders because most of them require you to invest some time and effort to start having fun. It took me around 30 minutes to start enjoying this one while Inscription and Slay the Spire had me learning for more than 2 hours just to start having fun. I only have around two hours a week to play games, so being welcoming is a big plus for me.
Fun little game where you make synergistic combos with various flora and fauna for BIG NUMBER. Unfortunately there is a memory leak causing severe slowdown the longer the game goes on, I even manually capped the frame rate and it still tanks my computer after a short play session. Hopefully the developers can fix it, if so I would happily recommend after.
The gameplay really clicks once the combos start rolling, turning each run into something satisfying, addictive, and fun to optimize. The synergy design gives you plenty of room to experiment without locking you into one path, while the art direction gives the game a lot of charm and personality. Came for the combos, stayed for the animal capitalism.
A cool "number-go-up" game with cute critters and alot of possible builds/comboes! Very simple to pick up but with alot of depht
