really cool i wish trans people were real
i now know im a cute demigirl nonbinary thing, it's very nice.
i don't seem to be able to get one of the trophies after being everywhere but apart from that, this game is amazing and extremely educational even to me as a trans person.
Exploring the Umbrella of Gender, Identity, and Expression!
Are you looking for an educational experience where you can learn about terms and concepts related to identity, expression, and gender? If so, then What’s Your Gender? is actually a pretty decent start. In this short game, players walk through an Antichamber-inspired environment, going from room to room and finding different terms and concepts. These include queer, fem, two-spirit, trans, various pronouns, dysphoria and euphoria, drag, and so forth. As you go through the contrasting rooms, voiceover is also included, along with calming music. It’s all very relaxing. While the game may be short and doesn’t cover everything under the big umbrella of expression, gender, and identity, it isn’t a bad starting place. However, it was nice to see that this game was very much written from a queer perspective. Games like this are essential to me, especially for those new to the LGBTQ+ community, those wanting to learn more about these concepts, or those learning about themselves. Visually, the game is simple yet beautiful, with stunning colors representing each term or concept. Something else I found pleasant was the inclusion of resources in the menu, like the Trevor Project, GLAAD, Trans Lifeline, and so on. I enjoy learning, so I found this to be a good experience.
5 out of 5 ★★★★★!
I very very quickly realised this game is just taking the vibe of antichamber and using that as a backdrop for an interactive list of definitions. "antichamber inspired", is pulling a *lot* of weight here. "explore ... concepts and terms related to gender, identity and expression in a playful and reassuring manner." - I frankly do not believe this to be true in the slightest. These concepts are not being explored, they are being defined. You are being told "X means Y", which in a subject as queer-centric as gender identity is something you *need* to explore, not just define. Anyone can open a dictionary, and they might as well with how this game "explores" the terms. I wouldn't call it playful, I'd call it quite drab. I wouldn't call it reassuring, i'd call it clinical. You want to be reassuring? Feature real people. Not necessarily visually, but share with us real stories of real people. Feature their experiences. Let real events reach out and touch people's hearts so they may know better how to interpret their own feelings. I didn't find out I was a transgender woman because somebody told me "transgender women were born male but identify themselves as a female" I found out I was a transgender woman because a transgender friend told me about his experiences, shared his story with me, and I realised how strongly I connected and related to what he was saying.
Mixed feelings about this one. It's an interesting environment to explore, and it makes my friend motion sick, which is fun. The terms relating to gender are little more than definitions, and although it's kinda fun to find all of them and can be informative, I wouldn't say it's all that in-depth or emotional. I do think the pronoun corner in genuinely kind of useful or interesting. Learned I was a fan of E. Ultimately, I think it's worth a short playthrough, but keep your expectations measured.
I like it very much, the questions are intriguing and lead one onto the path of questioning. However, i would have preferred if demi and void weren't two separate places and instead both connected thru an agender place coz afaik that's kinda how it works but don't take my word for it. Good to know that i knew most of these terms. I have been questioning my gender for more than a year now and i still haven't arrived at any conclusive answer. All i know is that i am probably not cis.
Un jeu très joli et instructif, quoique assez peu interactif. Le joueur est invité à visiter une sorte de musée du genre plein d'installations très jolies et bien pensées. Je me suis un peu perdue en jouant x) Mais j'ai passé un très bon moment!
Who else got the secret ending with the helicopter?
Great, comfortable, sensitive, safe, freeing, thought-provoking virtual space for exploration of your own gender and learning about gender in general. Everything about this game works toward that purpose in a cohesive way. I definitely learned something about gender, and something about myself.
