I went into this game not knowing about Westworld and what it’s about and after finishing the game a few times I say it’s an alright game. The puzzles, mechanics, and the horror side of things are the same rinse and repeat experience throughout the whole game except for a small handful which will be chapter specific. It’s a story driven experience so the game is very linear and the interactivity is limited. The graphics and the visuals are really good for a VR game! Overall I had a good time playing Westwood Awakening, it only has five chapters you can finish this in a few hours if you’re only going to focus on finishing the game without collecting any secrets and such. Since this is based on the show during season two this game is its own standalone story with its own characters and plot so you won’t be missing out or confused about anything if you haven’t seen the show except a couple of times where the dialogue references events that took place in season one and one of the achievements as well. If you’re looking for story focus games and/or you like Westworld I say it’s worth it. It still holds up today
VR has been glitchy and awkward for me. Gameplay is contrived. Plotline is not great. Doesn't really capture much of the feel of the show. Ugh.
mais c'est trop court
A good addition to the series. The beginning was quite weak, but it got better later on. I generally dislike stealth and it is a bit annoying here, but luckily there isn't that many stealth sections.
Worst vr game I have ever played and its simply because the movement, as someone thought it was a good idea to instead of using the joysticks on the vr controller that allows precise body positioning of movement, no lets make it so you have flail your arms to move. For me this caused painful motion sickness and doing anything in this game is unnecessarily difficult like opening doors. This game is a relic of early vr games and as of 2026 there are so many better games to be playing that has motion sickness reduction in mind.
Overall, a good experience. And one I think others should take the time to enjoy if you like Westworld, and don't mind some stealth/ thriller gameplay. I very quickly realised that the default "swing arms to walk" was not for me, and found that it can easily be changed to joystick movement in the settings. Gameplay was flawless for me following that change. Graphics in the game assume you have HTC vive controllers, whereas I was playing with index controllers. It a minor thing and didnt directly affect gameplay. However, the HTC vive controller have a grip button that is just that, a button. Attempting to grab objects was kind of clunky with the "sensor-like" grips of the index knuckles. I had to squeeze quite firmly. I was quick to get used to it though. I enjoyed the story, while on the shorter side (like most VR games), it didn't feel rushed. Overall pacing was good once I got a hand of the controls. The sound design was spot on, and very immersive. It brought the technology of the world to life. I feel like a lot of scifi will fill the background with generic blips and beeps, but the presence of sound in this game came with intention as you interacted with the world, and never felt out of place. One might feel as though the graphics and character models might feel a bit dated, I feel like that might be largely a restriction of VR, not necessarily the game. The facial animation, and eyes definitely stand out though. The "tablet" functionality was very interesting and offered a unique way to interact with the world, It reminded me of early 3D Metroid games, in scanning environments to solve puzzles and the likes. Had the game been longer, I think It would have been interesting to see further implementations and ways to utilise it. I was excited to see that there was a Westworld game, and while this tells an interesting story in that world, I hope that maybe we can see other games, VR or not, set in the world of Westworld. Where one can experience the park as an actual guest, or host. I understand that VR is computationally taxing, but I hope the technology can improve enough maybe we can see even more lifelike games. As properties like this that already have breathtaking environments can only benefit from it. I think your average gamer that chases the newest thing might find that this game feels a bit dated graphically in 2024, however, considering that this is a VR game from about 5 years ago, I consider it a pleasing piece of work considering the limitations of the time.
