28.01.2021 „Im looking very forward to the next Game „We´ll always have Paris“. Thats what Humphrey Bogart once said to Ingrid Bergmann in CASABLANCA.“ That were my words in my Review from 28.01.2021 of SARAWAK, a wonderfull Game with a special and wonderfull Graphic Style. And i waited patiently, because i knewed it was worth waiting for and three days ago it finally came out. So, welcome to WE´LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2801907314 While SARAWAK was a Mystery Game, WE`LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS is an emotional Journey based on a disease where people are loosing their Memory……. Dementia. It is a short but really intensely Story. The Story is told with minimalistic viuals and a few minigames like puzzling. Again we have that unique Grapic Style, first seen in SARAWAK. It feels noir. You are playing Simon who lives together with his wife Claire. That is all that i want to say about the Story, that is all i can say, because saying more would be a spoiler. The Game is also guided by a wonderfull Piano Theme. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2801907410 WE`LL ALWAYS HAVE PARIS made me thinking about Memories. Memories are precious. Memories define us, they make us who we are. Sometimes we should think about that. What can i say to you, dear Reader? If you want to make a short but intensely Gaming experience, different from other Games, if you want to dive into something special, if you like wonderfull Piano Music then this is for you. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2801907485 A very big thanks to Marina and Duncan for this really touching Gaming experience and again to Marina for playing Erik Satie´s, who died 1925 in Paris, Piano Music. Maybe there is a way to buy your Soundtrack? Thanks for this game that should us remind of something we really all deserve. True Love. Thank you…… for reading.
A tough emotional ride solicited by the means of assembling together pieces of shared memories.

Clear-cut graphics for a leisured balance:
We’ll Always Have Paris is a short interactive experience realized with minimalistic graphics and a very clean interface. A casual playthrough that is formed by Visual Novel-like elements where you click in order to proceed with the offered story, as well as, point and click elements that will permit us to interact with objects in various rooms the main character will be finding himself at. This is the second game by Cowleyfornia Studios I get to review and I have to admit that their style is quite particular. Same as first title I featured before, Sarawak, here we do have a quite short of a playthrough with similar design style and story pacing, that within 1h timeframe will take us on an emotional ride.
A strong-willed choice:
We’ll Always Have Paris is here to recount us the story of Simon Smith, a man who is facing daily hardships coming to the cohabitation with his wife Claire Rice, who is suffering from dementia. While spending bittersweet moments around Claire, who seems to become more and more a blurred version of the woman he fell in love with, Simon will be trying to follow Doctor’s instructions that did suggest him to regularly show Claire articles or objects that may trigger her memories, and, to not detach her own self completely from the reality she is living through.
Eventful, yet comfortable gameplay:
In this game the player can interact with objects by clicking on them and dragging to the respective areas they would fit at, like for example it will be possible to trim Simon’s mustache and choose how to dress him. The narration will be recounted with a calm pace and the story is accompanied by mellow BGM, perfectly fitting the displayed setting. The minimalistic 2D graphics will be slightly animated while heading from one room to another, and so on. This creates a pleasing effect coming to the gameplay creating some liveliness and dynamicity at heart of the whole experience. While we will be granted with some choices within this game, the story does offer a single outcome. However, we can choose whether to gather more information coming to the couple’s past or not, based on our personal preferences.
Overall:
This game does offer both comfort coming to the gameplay and a difficult contest within the story. Heavily recommended if you are into story rich games offering engaging interactions. Looking forward to Chinese support and wider endorsement of your works.
Well, first of all - the tags are completely misleading. This not an adventure, not point-&-click, nor is there a complex story. It is more some kind of very short visual novel with some (not much) very, very, very, very simple puzzles and choices that do not matter at all. Everyone will see very early where this leads to storywise, but since the player is simply dropped in the scene and does not know a single thing about the characters, he does not care about them - that´s not good for a game where this is the most important point (not the gameplay).. Therefore I did not care at all for the unknown man I was supposed to play. You can just click through everything, then it ist over - you can not change the way it will turn out. Storybuidling is done in the "library" - where you should read stuff about you. But why should I do this in the middle of the 30 minute game, when I do not care because I am not introduced as a character? So the effect the game wanted to create did not work for me, cause I did not care for that guy, cause the game did not tell me why I should. Nevertheless the player knows where it will go to immediately, so the effect wouldn´t be that strong anyways. In the end, some basic things make it hard to get into the game, even if you want to: Better introduction, better text integration (most visual novels do this a lot better), more interaction (or less and go for full VN), longer playtime, real decision that matter are all needed.
We’ll Always Have Paris is a short but emotional game told from the perspective of Simon Smith, a man whose wife has dementia. It is a moving narrative experience about loving somebody with memory loss. The game makes a large impact in its 30 – 60 minutes of gameplay and is a truly emotional experience. It offers simple block-colour visuals, immersive music, and a nice level of interactivity. It tells a harrowing but sadly all too common story of love, illness, and loss and does so in a respectful but honest way that really impresses the complexity and sadness of the situation. Despite the crashes and the fact that it brought tears to my eyes, I very much enjoyed this game and found it incredibly moving. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for something short, and simple but full of honest emotion and sincerity. Thank you to Marina & Duncan for this lovely and touching story. This is not the first 'game' from you, I have played. I totally like the graphics!
Nice little game. 45 minutes long. Touching story about an old person losing their memory and slowly fading away.
First ten minutes of UP kind of feels. Exceptional.
A touching narrative experience, with delicate writing. Definitely worth the price. There's more emotion and truth in these 45 minutes than in all the rest I've played this year.
