i love the Story and i like the gameplay however simple it might be. Its such a wonderful world and i wish it could get a sequel of some kind. Its a pity i found it so late.
I think the game is generally fine, but the gameplay is just unbearably repetitive. Every mission is just travelling very far to an island on the empty ocean littered with pipes to grind on. Then restoring power by hitting switches on nearby islands or something similar and then travelling al the way back to the main island. The travelling alone is most of the game. Besides the main story there are a couple time trials, which are relatively fun but short and some fetch quest from generic npc's that aren't really meaningful and just give you some currency for cosmetics.
Very good and heart-warming story. The voice acing was great, giving the characters more personality and emphasis on their emotion. I just wish there was better mechanical guidance to how to use the dive and aim.. i finished the whole game not knowing the significance for the aim button. The dive felt like it worked half the time when pressing shift or something. I still couldnt tell how to activate it but that was my hunch. Anyway, besides those two things, amazing short game with fun traversing mechanics. I would recommend it if you have a little cash and 5 hours.
overall, Wavetale is a really good game. i probably wouldn't recommend buying it at full price, but it's definitely worth picking up on sale. it can be completed in less than 10 hours, but those hours are spent in a beautiful world with a pleasant atmosphere. the combat is pretty simple, yet that's not a bad thing here. Wavetale is more of a casual game, so the light combat actually lets you relax, just the way it's meant to. the water looks amazing, with a great mix of realism and a cartoon-like style. moving around the world feels smooth, and the ability to customize your character is a great thing to add. there are a few downsides, though. some models are a bit buggy. the main character appears with her default look during dialogue scenes, even if you've changed her outfit or bought accessories. the save system can sometimes be a little annoying since it's automatic. some of the dialogue feels a bit robotic, and certain conversations can't be sped up or skipped, which can get a little frustrating, but that's also not a big problem — knowing a bit more about the lore won't hurt XD
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ was this game worth it. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IS THE SOUNDTRACK TOO GOOD. For real though, the game is incredible. The movement can be a bit janky at times, but is every other aspect about this game worth it. Even though the story is simple, it is still really good. Considering how small the game is, they managed to fit a pretty good amount of story and good writing into almost each and every moment. Every single section contributed to the larger story in one way or another in really nice way. I don't want to even mention anything specific because you just need to find out for yourself. I think the only real downside I have is that the story can be really repetitive. There are a few plot points that it brings up a few too many times. It is also a bit cliche, but I don't think a cliche story is a bad one. It matters more that a story can still be original and creative, even if it's cliche, and this story is still original in multiple ways. It honestly made me a little misty eyed a time or two, and I'm not ashamed to say that because the writing was just good. Outside of writing though, the game is incredibly relaxing. It was really nice to just sit back and listen to the music and the ambience and just chill for a moment. It's a really good cozy game. And now hear me out because the music is the BEST ♥♥♥♥ EVER. After a few minutes of snooping, I'm buying the OST on cassette AND on CD because I think it's that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. I heard this ♥♥♥♥ and it was like finding gold, I can't even explain. The music does such a good job at what it does, and when you're travelling long distances, it fills the gaps so incredibly well, it's unbelievable. It is great ambience, it's use of brass instruments is just jaw-dropping and absolutely stellar. I wish I could forget this game, just so I could hear the soundtrack for the first time, because I swear to god it's great. For the music alone, the game is a 10/10, I just wish it was longer.
Really fun game. Recommend.
Stuttered a lot for my 1060 NVDA graphics card
it was fun, but unfortunately after awhile the game starts to feel repetitive. there isn't much of a point in exploring beyond your main objective, since you aren't often rewarded for exploitation. however, the platforming is fun to do. the story is nice, i enjoyed the character development that happens throughout.
