This is a speedrun parkour shooter. Not sure why I expected a doomlike boomer shooter. I saw people in the reviews compare it to doom. Not anything like doom. There is a level editor and hardly any community maps. Every single one of them that I've played out of the pool of only 20, were very short and unsatisfying. The main missions feel very samey. There are better games in its genre, i.e. Shady Knight, Neon White, Mullet Mad Jack, Blood Thief, Cyber Hook, etc. And if you are craving fps with slow mo ability and fast movement, play severed steel or echopoint nova
Amazing speedgame! There's official levels (241*), a level editor (and thus community levels) and multiplayer (which I haven't tried yet). *Most "levels" have 5 different difficulties which are effectively just more levels. A level on one difficulty could have you running through a U-shaped corridor and having to kill 2 enemies. On a harder difficulty you start from the other end and there's 3 enemies. And on an even harder difficulty you might start in the middle, have to run to both ends to flip a lever and kill an enemy or two and then go back to the middle to finish the level. Those levels are very similar (it's basically just a slightly modified version of the same map) but potentially play quite differently. Levels are almost all under 1 minute long, so you can very quickly learn and grind them. There's also a hidden collectible in every level. The game has some rather common mechanics (headshots deal more damage to many enemies, sliding, a stomp ability) but it also has some really unique ones like enemies that won't take damage unless you're in the air AND did a 360 during that jump already. Sounds difficult, but fortunately almost every level features a slow-mo ability (though limited in use). Of course there's leaderboards, but you can also add anyone as a nemesis and you will then see their ghost/replay as you run through the levels. There's also accessibility/assistance settings (basically cheats) like slowing down the game, aim assist, etc. making this a very, very accessible speedgame. And using those settings doesn't fully disqualify you from competing on a leaderboard, you just get put on the "assistance enabled" leaderboard which is great for those that need those settings! The soundtrack isn't super long and so you will hear the same parts of it quite often but it is good and gives a very action-heavy Doom-like vibe. I would have liked a longer/more soundtracks but it's not a big issue for me. The only thing that's "missing" is some kind of fullgame run. Though it would probably be quite stressful due to the amount of focus needed over a long time to complete such a run, it would have been cool to have that nonetheless. Overall I highly recommend this game, especially if you like other speedgames like Neon White
This game is so much fun and addicting! No idea why people are expecting it to be exactly like DOOM. It even says its a parkour 3D platformer.
Blasts you with 100 useless unskippable tutorials instead of just letting you play and kill things
终是Doom出了轨,还是幽灵行者劈了腿
Warstride Challenges is a tightly focused, adrenaline-fueled first-person shooter that strips the genre down to its most essential and exhilarating elements: speed, precision, and mastery. Developed by Dream Powered Games and published by Focus Entertainment, the game is built around the philosophy that movement is just as important as shooting, and that the true reward lies not in narrative spectacle but in shaving seconds off a perfectly executed run. From the moment you start playing, it becomes clear that Warstride Challenges is less about surviving encounters and more about dominating them with flawless momentum and mechanical skill. The core structure revolves around short, self-contained levels designed for repeated play. Each stage tasks you with eliminating every enemy and reaching the exit as fast as possible, with your performance graded through a medal system that encourages optimization rather than simple completion. Levels are intentionally compact, but densely packed with enemies, hazards, and opportunities for movement chaining. This design creates an immediate feedback loop: finish a run, see your time, and instantly feel compelled to try again with a slightly cleaner route or faster execution. The absence of filler content or downtime keeps the pace relentless and reinforces the game’s arcade-like mentality. Movement is the defining feature of Warstride Challenges and the primary source of its depth. Sliding, jumping, strafing, and chaining momentum are not optional techniques but core skills required to excel. Maintaining speed through tight corridors and open arenas feels fluid and empowering, rewarding players who commit to aggressive forward motion rather than cautious play. The inclusion of a limited time-slow ability adds a tactical layer, allowing brief moments of precision during chaotic firefights without breaking the game’s overall rhythm. This balance between speed and control gives combat a uniquely kinetic feel, closer to a first-person platformer than a traditional shooter. Gunplay complements this movement-centric design with weapons that feel punchy, responsive, and purpose-built for fast encounters. Shotguns, rifles, and heavier firepower are all tuned to reward close engagement and decisive action, encouraging players to keep moving rather than retreating to cover. Enemies are aggressive and unforgiving, designed to punish hesitation and sloppy positioning. Rather than relying on complex AI behaviors, the game emphasizes enemy placement and density, forcing players to learn optimal routes and firing orders to maintain flow through each level. Progression in Warstride Challenges is tied almost entirely to performance. Unlocking new content requires earning medals by meeting strict time thresholds, and higher difficulty variants remix familiar levels with additional enemies or constraints that demand deeper mastery. This approach ensures that advancement always feels earned, but it can also be demanding, as success often requires dozens of attempts on the same stage. For players who enjoy skill-based repetition and gradual improvement, this structure is deeply satisfying; for others, it may feel punishing or grind-heavy. Replayability is further reinforced through competitive systems. Ghost runs allow you to race against your own best performances or those of other players, turning each level into a personal rivalry. Online leaderboards provide constant motivation to refine routes and execution, while race modes introduce a multiplayer dimension that emphasizes efficiency over direct combat. These features transform Warstride Challenges into a game as much about self-improvement as raw action, making it especially appealing to speedrunners and players who thrive on mastery. Visually, the game adopts a clean, stylized aesthetic that prioritizes clarity over detail. Environments are functional and readable, ensuring that enemies, hazards, and movement paths are easy to parse at high speed. While the visual variety may feel limited over long sessions, this restraint supports the game’s design goals, keeping the focus on performance rather than spectacle. The soundtrack and sound design amplify the intensity, providing a driving backdrop that reinforces the urgency of every run. Ultimately, Warstride Challenges is a game with a very clear identity and a narrow but powerful appeal. It does not attempt to accommodate every type of FPS player, nor does it soften its difficulty curve to ensure universal accessibility. Instead, it commits fully to being a precision-focused, time-attack shooter where improvement comes through repetition, discipline, and mechanical refinement. For players who crave fast movement, relentless pacing, and the satisfaction of perfecting execution down to the smallest detail, Warstride Challenges delivers a focused and rewarding experience where every fraction of a second truly matters. Rating: 8/10
Actually pretty fun. If you enjoy the gameplay loop of Ghostrunner, this is somewhat similar. When you die or just mess up and want to restart, it’s one instant button press away and you’re right back in. This is definitely for the type of people that don’t mind doing the same thing over and over until they get the perfect time/score. My only gripe is that every level (as far as I can tell) has the exact same music track playing. You guys couldn’t have added a few more? Anyways, game is fun and addicting. It should be more popular than it is.
