It seems that the developers themselves did not understand what they wanted to make: either a card roguelike or a resource manager, and in the end they mixed everything together and the result was a product overloaded with unnecessary mechanics that are boring to understand and play.
I think this game would have benefited from simpler mechanics, not during combat, but the other management aspects. I liked the theme and the artwork, but the gameplay felt too repetitive and not well explained.
Amazing name but not the game. I bought this game in hope of a funny "Slay the Spire" deck-builder. But the game is so confusing and frustrating that i can't recommend it. Pro: -the theme and the characters are really interesting and funny. Cons: -too many variables what cards do -constant defuffs called quirks which kill the fun and feel like running against a wall -no difficulty settings
The art style and whole “traveling circus deckbuilder” concept immediately grabbed me, but the gameplay loop gets repetitive pretty fast. There are some fun card synergies and weird charm throughout, though progression feels uneven and runs can lose momentum halfway through.
review after 100% i agree with others that some of the management mechanics seem unnecessary, but i still am fond of the core "combat". reshuffling the cards leading to loss of health led to some interesting encounters, especially with how the reshuffling damage can be shielded! decent overall, but not too challenging. 100% completion will particularly be time consuming due to needing to max out every character. this takes multiple playthroughs. several characters can only be found in later acts, which means that, especially for the character only found in the final act, you'll need to lose on purpose sometimes in order to keep leveling them up.
Pros + Gameplay is fun for the first 2 playthroughs Art Style is Beautiful Variety of character abilities Cons - Lack of difficulty once you find an optimal build For a rogue-like, there is not much replayability. I completed 5 playthroughs to do 100% of the achievements. XP in the game is flawed. There is one character you cannot get to level 8 through normal gameplay where you win matches. this is because you unlock him in the last area of the game, which is not long enough to get a character from level 1-8. Instead, you have to reset fights, for the XP you get on a loss, then win a match, then reset again until you hit the threshold before the end of the game. Having branching paths makes no sense when the above problem exists. It plays like a deckbuilder, but gameplay milestones are designed like an RPG. Holy bugs. Tutorials not playing, the game locking up when you get to a new town, certain buttons not working occasionally forcing restarts. Bottom line: I think that if the game got a couple of updates or more time in the oven, it would be a game truly worthy of the title Amazing. The dev team is based in Poland so I'm not sure if they were impacted by world events over the past couple years or whether they just don't update after release. I would say play it through once, but 100% completion isn't worth it.
