I am a part of the Ambassador program for WA. I have had the opportunity to play the game on the test server for almost a month prior to EA and have received it for free. So take that into consideration when reading. There are several issues with the game that I have had throughout. The whole leveling and questing system is dated and unenjoyable to all but the most “dedicated” players. They want to not be P2W but they add an exclusive title with stat bonuses (5% increase to gold and item drops) that also comes with a pet that gives even better stats. Yes you can obtain a pet as good through diligence and grinding but the issue is that grinding is unrewarding at the moment. In the test server the requirements for crafting gear was a lot less and they increased it by an extreme amount for launch. They said numerous times they would balance it so it wasn’t as bad but they have yet to do so. A lot of zealous defenders of the game will say, “Well you shouldn’t have an easy time getting BiS gear lol.” But then they should at least make the experience to get it enjoyable. Instead we have to grind the same trash mobs in hopes for mats to keys to craft so we can enter the endgame dungeon. A huge issue is the implementation of loot boxes for basic gear. Every 20 minutes of grinding your inventory is full of loot boxes you have to roll on for basic gear. So to do it you have to get out of combat, skip this spinning wheel over and over for like a minute and then look through all the gear to see if the RNG stats are better than your current gear. It’s probably the worst system I’ve seen put in a loot-based game. I personally don’t think the game is a cash grab, I think the game devs genuinely think these are good ideas. One thing I will hand them though is, a lot of ambassadors complained about the VIP buff that gave you increased atk, def, hp, lower cooldowns, and a few other things. And after a few days the devs removed it. Another thing that is worrisome is that there is a sub-group of fervent fans of this game that will be triggered by any sort of criticism or observation that could be seen as negative. And a lot of them are ambassadors which isn’t healthy for the community at all. One thing I do enjoy about the game is the dungeon at 25, it’s the first actual challenge in the game and I wish the rest of the game was similar in quality to it. Some might say, “Well you haven’t reached endgame yet, give it a chance.” I’m sorry but the average player that’s interested isn’t gonna endure 15-20 hours of grinding to lvl 40 to reach the “fun” content. I will still support and play the game but I also want them to fix these issues in the game, the only thing this game has going for it right now is the PVP that 80% of the playerbase won’t experience. Otherwise it’s just Anime Diablo.

Pay to win: buy-to-play format + micro-transactions with huge impact: you can buy item stat re-roller for both unique and legendary items; Amazing game, terrible cash shop. Edit - to those who say "it's obtainable in-game for free": A pack with 10 Legendary Re-roll scrolls is 1.99$; You can't keep crafting legendary gears just to re-roll them, the cost is too high; In order to farm enough honor points you have to play 200 PVP 1 vs 1 matches with 50% win rate to get enough points to buy that pack - which translates into (with optimism) 16 hours of PVP/arena grinding, playing to win; There is no PVE alternative for that.
So Warlords is an interesting mixed bag, the game use to be ELOA and was pay for everything, Play With took most of the P2W out of it.So how does it rate. Pro's Pretty solid and meaty combat Lots of cute mounts & pets which you can level up MMO lite No bots or gold sellers Con's Grindy, grindy, grindy and then grind some more. Good gear takes forever to grind out It's a one time purchase price so why are you making it so grindy if there is no sub? Loot that drops isn't that exciting greens & blues while you level Story is totally generic and not worth the read Graphics could be better, but they work. Doesn't seem like a NA server with people typing in Chinese
game is sold on Australian Steam market... no oceanic server and game has a delay from lag connecting to US servers.. refunding and uninstalling.
How to make profit these days? 1. Set up a fake/scam/trash gaming company. 2. Take some old f2p mediocre game with p2w elements, which has died before and bring IT back to "life". 3. Change a name of this game (nothing less, nothing more, just the name, you do not want to strain too much, it is not healthy for scammers). 4. Set up this game on Steam as a b2p fantastic, fresh game. 5. Cash grab some Customers. 6. After a few months close the servers. 7. Wait next few months or even a year (depends of weather and mood on the Canary Islands). 8. Back to point 1. Edit: Ugh, forgot to review the game... ;) So... Yes. resurrected, outdated garbage. Not worth Your time, honestly. Period.
Nothing special, just average for a Korean MMO. It's kinda fun wrecking trash mobs, but the preformance/lag spikes is so terrible I had to lock it to 30 fps through Nvidia. It's also already dead, refunding.
I really wanted to play this game as it seems a nice ARPG, unfortunately, the Game Guard protection successfully prevented me from trying it. I basically installed the game twice, removed all the background software from my system and still upon logging in to the game with a character I would be welcomed by GameGuard error message and some line in Chinese I can't even read or better copy paste for translation. Seriously get your act together if you want people to play your games, make sure first that you don't lock them out from doing so for no apparent reason. Oh, and when you sell products on the western market we tend to use the English language, not freaking Chinese. As well, I won't write to customer service as I’m not being paid to bug test your products, but I’ll happily warn others to stay away from your products.
I cannot recommend purchasing this game [strike]during the early access period[/strike] at all until PLAYWITH has managed to rollout a few major updates (not minor weekly ones like those since the August 29th raid patch) which address its major shortcomings. This review is based on my own experience playing all the classes (not all are max level as of this posting). I will update this as needed (updated on September 20th).
The Good
- Multi-stance combat: while not perfect, it can be fun and engaging. - Decent character movement and combat animations: not the absolute greatest but good enough (some skills feel satisfying but others still lack that visceral/impactful punch). - Whimsical: I enjoy the lighter/wackier side along with the anime-inspired graphics for character designs (I mean I wouldn't bother playing a title if the aesthetics didn't appeal to me). - Lot of different pet/mounts (unique tier) from crafting. - Nice amount of emotes (33 built-in) with decent animations. - Removal of the majority of the blatant P2W aspects from the cash shop (I still do not agree about leaving the skill and stat option scrolls even though limited amounts are provided as login rewards or can be acquired via the Arena Honor Shop). - GM's (Fennix, Vedjin, Xerxef) that do try to respond to issues and feedback as best as they can. They seem to have to do community management tasks (like collecting feedback) as well (normally a full time job on its own). - Reasonably priced directly purchasable cosmetics added to the cash shop with the August 22nd update.
The Bad
- Unimaginative quest chain with an unsatisfying reward loop. The number of mobs you need to kill are normally in the 20-30 range with multiple types as part of the objective (filler to draw out the leveling). Monster abilities do not really change (just different model types). At lower levels, it is ok, but turns into a brain dead grind past level 30 where you kill 40-100 of one type and then kill the next set that happened to be the other mob not part of the previous objective. See following. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1505241063 - The combat system can be overwhelming for newer or more casual players in terms of the number of skills that are thrown at them (without a good tutorial system). Button mashing for questing content is fine but dungeons with boss mechanics requires more calculated game play they may not be prepared for. [strike]- Loot in inventory filling loot boxes requiring inventory tetris mini-game and reliable high APM "F" key on keyboard (fixed maybe in the next few weeks?)[/strike] Addressed with the August 22nd update. - Settings for new box opening options and break all do not persist across logins (same goes with automatic transformation for elite lord). - Acquiring gold in real life is actually easier than in this game (fixed maybe in the next few weeks?) - The voicing of NPC's is unsurprisingly lacking plus no random cycling of phrases. "What?!" - Malea 2018... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1517678222 - Incomplete guild system that offers no way for players to look at a list of guilds and apply to them (even mobile MMO's have way more fleshed out guild systems than this).
The Ugly
- Weekly "updates" past the August 22nd one that have been minor at best (not addressing a lot of the issues that have been reported by players). - Lack of content (some gated for early access) for players who hit the current max level of 40 (soft cap that will go to 50 in the future at official launch). - Sizable number of players using macros to bot for leveling, materials, gold. - Poor marketing/advertising and public relations. Close to 1500 keys were given out but peak CCU's on launch day topped off at 469 across two regional servers with average daily players dropping below 200 this last week (way too many codes snapped up by resellers). These numbers cannot sustain a B2P title for very long (negative cash flow). - Unclear vision and lack of communication by the actual Korean development team. This is NOT the fault of the GM's (they cannot give us info that isn't given to them by the head office in Korea). At a higher level (management wise), PLAYWITH has not done a very good job at living up to the "community focused" objective stated in their Q&A's (not good when they brought up comparisons with Neowiz' early access issues with Bless Online). - Underwhelming developer roadmap (August 10th) considering they are planning to come out of early access by October. No new details after the raid content was deployed on August 29th. This comes across as a lack of urgency given the time frame involved unless they plan to delay the official launch date (which at this juncture, an executive decision should be made to announce this as well as addressing what fixes will be prioritized). As of September 12th, absolutely no new roadmap or visibility offered. Seriously do not see how this game will have any different outcome from the Korean version which they shutdown back in July. - While this is a re-branded version of ELOA, what exists now underneath the graphics is a modified version where it really cannot also be considered exactly the same game anymore. Removing the designed P2W mechanics from cash shop consumables (where you buy back that functionality) means reimplementing those aspects back into the game. Trying to take designs and code performed by a completely different team and making your own design changes is not trivial. Changes can end up making no sense or without a lot of forethought on the impact on other parts of the game like resource management or sustain (health recovery) as examples. You see some of this on gear too for example. Like weapons rolling movement speed or gear pieces even rolling [strike]decrease critical damage (some have both increase and decrease critical damage on them - like are you for real???)[/strike]. Why pet movement speed rolls? So we can move faster in combat while mounted.... wait... that is not a thing. How did they calculate the costs to craft something like Tara Spirit or the amount of materials needed to craft an item? Some of this stuff defies logical design sense (non-sequitur divide by zero material). This doesn't bode well for the sort of gotcha's that can happen in the level 50 content. August 21st Update: after looking through my character details, the reduced critical damage is a defensive stat. Basically this is a lost in translation issue which can be made less vague with a better text description (like decreases incoming critical damage by monsters) [strike]- Still no cosmetics or pets in the cash shop. I suspect the hold up is determining pricing. Price it wrong and the revolt (of the now sub-200 players across two regional servers who are trying to remain loyal to this) could be a severe death blow.[/strike] Cosmetics finally added with August 22nd update.
tl;dr Summary
Game has some fun combat that is offset by an unfun/unrewarding loot system, poorly balanced (cost wise) crafting system, questionable design changes and glacial development by the Korean development team, nearly non-existent interaction between PLAYWITH and the player community. What exists now is not worth purchasing IMHO and I have my doubts there will be drastic improvements once this officially launches.
As others have said, this company kind of scammed everyone. It was a Pay to Play MMORPG and as such was largely advertised. They even made a lot of partnership for promotions and put it on packs of third party websites for sale - later even making some giveaways for it, and all that while holding a big price on the game to make it look important. Then when enough people bought into it, they made the game F2P but pay to win! The only thing that I recommend here is that nobody should ever buy from PLAYWITH Interactive Inc.
