About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

Świetna gra w styli XCOM 2 oraz JA3.
One thing I really like is the merc banter. Wasn't expecting much from it, but the comments during missions give the squad some personality. The main story is fine. Nothing groundbreaking, but it does its job. Give me more conversations between these idiots and I'll happily keep playing. :-)

One thing I really appreciate here that I don't see people talking about enough: cover doesn't work exactly like XCOM. I actually spent some time looking at the accuracy modifiers on the right side because I was curious what was happening. Cover isn't just “minus X% chance to hit”. It also massively increases the chance that a successful hit will turn into a scratch instead of full damage. That's a pretty interesting design choice. It means good positioning isn't just about making yourself harder to hit. Even when the enemy does hit you, the cover can dramatically reduce the punishment. In XCOM you can sometimes sit behind what looks like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ concrete bunker and still get crit from across the map. Here the system seems much more focused on rewarding proper positioning. I like it.
a good work, AI seems having some tactics.
Great game! It’s a little buggy and crashed a few times, which was frustrating, but overall it’s still a really fun turn-based shooter. Hopefully the devs can iron out some of the bugs in future updates. Despite the issues, I’d still recommend giving it a try—although I’d probably suggest picking it up on sale. One thing that really bothered me, though, is the camera. The angles can be pretty wonky at times, and after you select your actions, you’re forced to watch the entire action sequence from whatever awkward camera angle was set beforehand. It can be a bit anti-climactic when you’re trying to enjoy watching your character absolutely obliterate the bad guys! Overall, though, I’m having a lot of fun with it. Definitely worth checking out if you enjoy turn-based shooters. Ratings 8/10 for those of you who loves turn-based shooters.
XCOM like game that is a fun challenge. The story also remains interesting, and there are a few nice twists in it. The difficulty has remained good throughout. There are some minor ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and bugs, but all in all a great experience!
I'm torn. Positive: Turn based, a decent amount of customization, I get a little of the Jagged Alliance vibe. Negative: It feels quite unfair to me. The devs advertise "no rgn", but then it's clear very quickly that the system below the hood uses rgn. Enemies are many, they are bullet sponges and where you have no chance of hitting, they do. If possible, play a demo or buy and if it's not to your liking, refund in time.
I seldom write reviews but I wanted to write one to support this game and the devs. So far, I have had 0 crashes in 11.3 hours of play at the ultra setting. I didn't run into any bugs. The graphics are nice, UI is like Xcom, and as others have said, it's really a mix of Xcom and Jagged Alliance 2. It's more Jagged Alliance than the JA3! in my opinion. There are new mechanics and tweaks to the old systems you'll recognize as you play. My only 3 suggestions are: make the talking heads move their lips as if live on the screen. It irks me every time I play. This would be the a change that would return a lot to the game given the effort needed to animate the faces (even just lips and eyes and a lot of interference on the screen). Also, the enemies all look very similar. More variety in dress and color would go a long way. The third is the price; seems a bit expensive for this type of game. Other than that, for me this game really scratches the itch, Xcom without aliens. It's exactly what I've been waiting for. There is a lot in the game already but there could be more (probably with DLCs). Thanks for making this, I'm having a blast. Well done.
I was expecting Warhounds to feel like the poor indie cousin of Zero Company. Instead I ended up thinking: Zero Company looks better and has a better story and dialogs for sure. Warhounds makes me think more.
