About
Warhounds is a turn-based tactical & strategy game, inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance, about a mercenary squad with an old-school action movie vibe. Command an elite team of bold, stylish operators, wage a campaign in an alternate-future Africa, and decide the war’s outcome mission by mission.
Calculate lines of fire and flank angle, break cover, and seize the high ground. Every turn is decided more by your planning and tactics, less - by RNG.
Combine classes: Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, and protect key operatives. Take calculated risks. High combat lethality makes every decision count.
Recruit, upgrade, purchase equipment, and handle logistics, finances, medical supplies, and downtime. Choose allied factions, build relationships, gather intel, and execute covert ops. Your choices have consequences: your decisions determine your access to missions, gear, and allies.
Deploy drones, combat scanners, smoke, and optical camo. Upgrade and improve your kit to win under any conditions.
Knock out a mission in 25-40 minutes, or settle in for a long session. Customize the challenge: go for a brutal tactical hell or a light, relaxing run.
No point-blank misses - flank + close distance = 100% hit chance.
Real ballistics, destructible cover, vertical gameplay, and cone overwatch.
Mercenaries with character and mission-focused loadouts without any busywork.
Base management, contracts, budgets, allies, and consequences for your actions.
Assemble your squad. Take the contract. Decide Africa’s future beyond 2035.

Reviews
I was expecting Warhounds to feel like the poor indie cousin of Zero Company. Instead I ended up thinking: Zero Company looks better and has a better story and dialogs for sure. Warhounds makes me think more.

This game has some serious “AA indie tactics game from 2008 that somehow becomes your obsession” energy. And that's why I'm still here.
I have played enough turn-based tactics games to know exactly what happens next. You carefully position your sniper. You calculate the shot. You check the hit chance. You take a deep breath. MISS. Then the enemy proceeds to hit your guy through three planets and a concrete wall. Warhounds definitely understands the genre. Jokes aside, I’m enjoying it. The bullet-by-bullet system is interesting and makes firefights feel a little different from the usual binary hit/miss system. I just wish “scratch” hits weren’t quite so common. Sometimes I feel like my soldiers are throwing bullets at the enemy with a strongly worded letter attached.
a good work, AI seems having some tactics.
This game is so fun and well done! And unlike other games in the genre. It's stable and works: No crashes. I can't believe I've played it so much in one day. Usually I don't have the energy, but this game... It makes me so happy to enjoy it so much. I also heard it can be endless too once main game ends so I can keep playing with my soldiers :D
Jo tolles game
Fills the XCOM niche nicely. Only had one crash in 13 hours and it seems to be patched the day after.
Overall this game is about a 7 on 10 for the genre. It is XCOM mechanics applied to a modern warfare setting. Unfortunately Jagged Alliance has made any game about mercenaries have to be full of quirky humorous characters. I think this game would have been much better served by taking a milsim approach. As it is the characters are never better than forgettable and often cringe. Graphics and audio are serviceable. It IS fun though - I would like to see what this team can come up with for DLC and potentially a sequel.
