TL;DR - [i]WAAAGH!/10! WWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!![/i] 8/10 - Enjoyable Warhammer side-scrolling platformer with guns that doesn't take itself too seriously at all. Just make sure you limit the framerate because unlimited framerate will crash the game. And now... some additional thoughts from reviewers of two very different species... WAAAGHHAMMER! [i]ZHOO N' KRUMP DA HUMIEZ, DA RATZ, DA BAD ORKZ, N' DA MEKZ UZING DA 'P**A C**TOLZ.[/i] [i]...[/i] [i]Y IT ZENZOR DAT? I'Z JUZ 'ZPLANIN! ZTOOPID HUMIE 'ORMAT! DON WAN ME TO 'ZPLAN GAM![/i] This is my second experience with a Warhammer 40,000 video game, and I found it thoroughly enjoyable. I'm still relatively new to Warhammer, but so far, I am genuinely enjoying the Orks more than any other species, specifically because they are not meant to be taken seriously at all, and are just fun Mad Max chaos. This game leans into that. Heavily. It has no problem with making jokes about everything in the Warhammer universe by letting you view it from the perspective of an Ork. [spoiler]My favorite visual gag is the "holy sh*tter" of the Astra Militarium commander.[/spoiler] Everything is very tongue and cheek, and I love the Ork take on the universe. STORY [i]LUT ZINMA! BAD ORK ZTEAL DA HARE! U KRUMP N' GIT DA HARE BAK![/i] The story is fairly basic and is really more of a joke itself than something you need to pay attention to. The entire impetus for the action is that a higher-up Ork is jealous of your character's fabulous hair piece. He steals it, and your character goes on a vengeance quest to get it back. It's amusing. It's not going to win any awards for storytelling, but it services the game and the not-at-all serious tone they're going for. GAMEPLAY [i]KRUMP! LOOT! KRUMP! LOOT! KRUMP! LOOT! KRUMP! LOOT! U DON NED MOAR 'ZPLAININ![/i] This is a side-scrolling platformer. You have a melee and several different categories of shooting weapons you gain as you go and can cycle through to better suit the enemies you're facing at the moment and your playstyle. You can trade the initial weapons you start with for different weapons (and hats!) with in-game currency (gained exclusively by playing the game. No microtransactions). I played it on normal mode, and the difficulty wasn't super extreme. It was a nice balance that provided a light challenge. The place I think I got hung up the most was The Genestealer Patriarch, but I did eventually beat it. The whole game took me about 5-6 hours to complete, though there are achievements you can't get in one run and alternate characters you can play through the game with, so I'll definitely be back at some point. JANK [i]U LOD DA GUNZ AFOR U SHOOT DA GUNZ! U IZ DUM IF U DON NO DAT![/i] The only issue I encountered was with the game's default unlimited framerate. It caused the game to crash after roughly 20 minutes. The solution is to cap the framerate at 30-60 FPS. This stabilized the game for me and I didn't encounter any further issues. MULTIPLAYER [i]GIT DE UDDA ORKZ IN TA KILIN'![/i] I... haven't tried it. I recommend both players go to options and set it for the same framerate before attempting multiplayer. OVERALL [i]IZ NOT REEL KILIN', BUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHH... IZ VUN WEN U DON HAF REEL HUMIEZ TA KRUMP! WAAAGH/10! WOOD KRUMP AGEN![/i] I thoroughly enjoyed this game and will likely be back for some achievement hunting. I give this a strong recommend. It's not a must-play, but it is pretty fun. Just make sure you cap your framerate and be aware that it is a pretty short game. You can probably to a run in under 6 hours. 8/10.
