Rather mixed feelings about this game,WarBirds Dawn of Aces World war 1 Air Combat. The aircraft and Zeps look extremely good, as does the sky.Conversely the ground does not,it looks old and even with a fair to reasonable rig looks poorly done..The game automatic picked up 3 features on my Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick yet steadfastly refused to acknowledge or responed to the other 8 buttons. The learning to "fly " or play the game is very strange as you are learning in a P51 or a Me 109. With HUD's .. WTF? And you don't start as aspiring pilot Lt.Flyboy,Flying Corp, no way..you try and become eligible for the Richthofen(what ever that consists of) part of the game by doing missions. It's an odd set up you are a gunner ,then a Brit pilot next a french homme de l'air but it is rather good fun even with a certainly not helpful joystick set up.. .Dogfighting is good, AA and gunfire seems about right and the sound track and music is OK.Settings from arcade to sim,no bugs or crashes just a bit strange over all .. ..It's not a patch on IL2 Sturmovik 1946 but it's not bad fun all the same.....
WWII flight sim disguised as a WWI flight sim. Not the same Dawn of Aces I played a million years ago.
Total piece of crap. Its not even the graphics. I couldn't care less about graphics. What I DO care about is good gameplay and games that are enjoyable to play. I read that you could fly the zeppelin in this. You cant. Multiplayer costs a subscription, the controls are garbage, theirs only a couple planes (and no flyable zeppelin). Just stay away. If you want to fly WWI era planes, look into Il-2 Battle of Stalingrad. Their moving all the WWI era planes from Rise of Flight into Il-2 and both games were fantastic to begin with. Just stay away from this garbage. Its not even as good as the original cell shaded Dawn of Aces...
I don't understand why the user interface is so terrible. This game was perfect in the 90's.
THIS GAME SUCKS
If you already own Warbirds Dogfights and have used that games 30 days this game will not give you the free month. Warbirds means all the WB Titles i guess. Otherwise its a good flight sim with dated terrain graphics. Its biggest problem is the small number of players, Most of the time i played Dogfights there were less than 10 people in the main arena and 3 or less in the other arenas, This game needs more players badly.
Not the same game from back in the day. Not gotten better with age. I loved the game years ago. This sucks.
Ja das ist fliegen im WW1, und einfach ist es noch immer nicht . ABER ! , mit den neuen Updates hat die Flug->Fun deutlich zu->genommen. Schön zu sehen, es wird was gemacht, am Spiel. Weiter so !. ( still hard to fly, but now it´s a tip )
The first combat flight simulator I flew was an old dos-based game called Red Baron. It was pretty simple graphics even then, but had a good flight model. And it was easy to use. Sometimes, you just want to fly. This game reminds me of that old game so much I wonder that the devs aren't old fans like me! I have more sophisticated flight sims now of course, including SOTA combat flight sims, and I love them all! But this game you can play on your lunch break at work, with just earbuds and a PnP joystick, or old-school with keyboard and mouse! Best of all, no matter what, it's super-fun every time! Like I said, sometimes you just want to fly!
