I swear to god i've sunk the Kongo like 8 times
In my opinion, the game is a mixed bag, offering a plethora of engaging elements, as well as a few areas that could be improved upon. Overall, I find the game to be highly enjoyable, and I wish there was more content available. It feels as though the developers missed an opportunity to enhance the game by expanding its scope and incorporating additional features. The game begins with the player creating a task force by selecting ships within a limited budget, and the objective is to locate and engage the enemy fleet, much like in World War II. Reconnaissance plays a crucial role, and the random placement of ships adds a layer of complexity. The game's models, water effects, and graphics are all well-executed, making for a visually stunning experience. While the game can be challenging, particularly for new players, there are numerous online resources available that provide guidance on gameplay mechanics. The sound effects are impressive, although the music can become repetitive. Ultimately, I highly recommend the game, despite some minor issues with the user interface. The Tokyo Express mod is a notable addition, and there are several other mods available that address some of the game's shortcomings, making it an even more enjoyable experience. 7/10

The exercising of my brain at my age is most invigorating. Keeps me sharp.
Poor UI makes it a burdensome click fest. Great potential, just needs a new UI and some streamlining of the mechanics.
War on the sea is a fantastic game. There are numerous games in this genre, and being an addict of naval warfare pc gaming, I have most of them. Sadly most such games are lacking in one area or another. However war on the sea strikes a happy balance. I'll admit I'm only just getting to grips with the game, but I already see that this is a success at what it is trying to do where so many similar games fail. My only criticism is the restricted scope to the south Pacific. I get that this keeps things at a manageable level for the development team, but I would like to see this game extend to the rest of the world. This really is a fantastic ww2 naval game with a nice strategic layer. I hope to see it's scope expand in future. Great work killer fish.
Nothing but flames before me, around me the vast Pacific Ocean. The engine room is on fire and I'm frenetically trying to put out the flames. If we sink here -- I say to myself -- we're done for. No way they can fish us out in the middle of a battle, even less with the ominous buzzing of the Zeros circling above us. A sudden, strong shake and a loud boom. I'm barely getting back on my feet when I hear the voice of the XO roaring in the speakers. -- Repair crew!! Stop what you're doing and rush to the bow, we're flooding! We need to patch up ASAP!! Leave with the engine room still in flames? Well, it's not my call. It makes sense that we prioritize plugging the leak, I just fear there'll be no engine to fix once I'm done. And no engine means we'll be sitting ducks for the Japanese. ------ Yeah, this game is cool. Runs flawlessly in Linux via Steam/Proton
War on the Sea is overall a great game with endless scenarios for battles and campaigns. You have the ability to create your own battles, or play pre-made ones. There are infinite modding opportunities, my personal favorites are The Tokyo Express and Operation Magazine, all of which are pinned int he modding section of the community. There are mods that even add extra campaigns incase you get bored of the base 2 campaigns. The current modded ones are full Pacific war, ABDACOM (start of the pacific war), Indian Ocean campaign, and a Mediterranean. The best part is they are all available in the modding tab of the community hub. This game is great, I recommend it.
The enemies know exactly where you are no matter what there subs are op as hell but your subs suck waste of money.
The controls suck. Need deeper keybinding options. Difficult or impossible to issue certain commands to all your ships. Have to pause action and dole out tedious manual orders to each ship individually on tiny little buttons. Need an FPS precise mouse to play this RTS... And can't change the default setting of certain options.
